Scan Computers, a multi-award winning family owned business have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team, in the Digital Signage Business Unit. We are looking for a motivated and driven team player to join, offering best in class service in line with our customer satisfaction standard.

General

Hours

Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 with 1 hour for lunch

Location

Scan Computers International Ltd, Enterprise Park, Middlebrook, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 6PE.

Key Responsibilities

Overview

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line Technical support to the customers of the Digital Signage Business Unit, through telephone, email, support tickets and site visits
  • Configure hardware and software before it is sent to customers (training can be provided)
  • Research, test and give feedback on hardware and software, to inform business decisions

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with account managers on issues with their customers
  • Take responsibility for tickets and fixes
  • Organising and categorising of support Issues
  • Monitoring of customers’ estates
  • Demonstrate application features to users, either remotely or face to face
  • Ad hoc support tasks requested by the Business Unit and Management Team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive and highly organised, with a high attention to detail
  • A willingness and passion for learning new technology as required
  • An ability to explore technology solutions
  • Increase product knowledge through personal research and ongoing internal training

Skills and Experience;

The following is desirable but not entirely necessary. On the job training would be provided to the right candidate

Experience

  • Experience working on a support desk (1st – 2nd line)
  • Initial configuration of customer hardware and software
  • Technical experience in IT or IT related hardware
  • Experience with Linux: Ubuntu, CentOS
  • Networking experience e.g: knowledge of DHCP, DNS etc...
  • MS Office knowledge

Skills

  • Proactive, energetic and solution focused with an interest in the IT and Technology Industry
  • Written English to a high standard, and a friendly and confident telephone manner
  • Ability to handle multiple tickets and projects, and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • High levels of effort, commitment and drive
  • Ability to work well alone and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management and workload management skills
  • Must be comfortable interacting and engaging with high value customers
  • High quality and professional communication skills
  • Confident & professional telephone manner
