UPS

A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) provides power to devices when normal mains service fails such as during a power cut. UPS systems can be stand-by, only supplying power when the regular supply is interrupted or online, relying on regular power and/or batteries to supply it while it supplies power to the protected device. A UPS is highly recommended for mission critical systems such as workstations, servers and all server room and datacentre infrastructure.
Always consider your UPS requirements when any changes or additions are made to servers, storage or network switches. Changes in power draw from any device will have an impact on your UPS runtime during power failure, so ensuring it is always correctly sized is critical.
