A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) provides power to devices when normal mains service fails such as during a power cut. UPS systems can be stand-by, only supplying power when the regular supply is interrupted or online, relying on regular power and/or batteries to supply it while it supplies power to the protected device. A UPS is highly recommended for mission critical systems such as workstations, servers and all server room and datacentre infrastructure.

These sensors are designed to connect to rackmount UPS devices in the server room or datacentre to provide environmental feedback to facilitate graceful shutdown of mission-critical systems and applications in the event adverse conditions.
