3D LiDAR mapping for large-scale localisation and 12 high-torque motors for agile mobility
The Unitree Go2 EDU Plus (Livox Mid-360 Edition) is an education-grade quadruped built for researchers, universities, and developers pushing into autonomous navigation, spatial AI, and real-world robotics deployment. Based on the proven Go2 EDU Plus platform, this variant features a top-mounted Livox Mid-360, opening the door to dense point-cloud mapping, long-range perception, and advanced SLAM workflows.
Built around a modular aluminium alloy frame, the Go2 EDU Plus weighs approximately 15 kg including battery and supports a typical payload of 8 kg (up to 12 kg maximum). Locomotion is driven by 12 high-torque joint motors, each capable of delivering up to 45 N·m, supported by advanced heat-pipe cooling. This drivetrain enables stable walking, running speeds up to 3.7 m/s (maximum 5 m/s), slope climbing up to 40°, dynamic jumps, and controlled drops of up to 16 cm.
At the heart of this Go2 EDU Plus variant is the Livox Mid-360 3D LiDAR, mounted atop the robot to provide uninterrupted, full 360° horizontal and 59° vertical coverage. Compact and lightweight at just 265 g, the Mid-360 delivers dense 3D point clouds with a short minimum detection range of 10 cm and long-range perception up to 40 m, making it ideal for high-fidelity mapping, localisation, obstacle detection, and navigation research in both indoor and outdoor environments. Powered by Livox’s hybrid-solid rotating mirror technology, it reduces blind spots, is unaffected by lighting conditions, actively resists interference from other LiDARs, and can even replace multiple conventional sensors, offering an advanced perception backbone that defines this SKU’s capabilities.
Processing power comes from a high‑performance 8‑core CPU as standard, with optional NVIDIA Jetson Orin modules—including the Orin NX (up to 100 TOPS) or Orin Nano (40 TOPS)—available for users needing greater AI computing capability. These upgrades support complex real‑time AI applications, voice recognition and commands, and interactive customization. Dual real‑time operating systems manage motion control and environment sensing seamlessly, facilitating advanced project development in ROS, C++, Python, and graphical programming environments.
Connectivity is seamless with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and 4G module supporting over-the-air updates and remote operation. The rechargeable 8,000mAh battery provides up to 2 hours of runtime, with an optional 15,000mAh battery for extended missions and fast-charging solutions that reduce downtime during experiments and hands-on activities.
Your new robot will also be provided with Long Endurance battery (15,000 mAh), allowing between 2-4 hours of continuous operation before charging as well as a Fast Charger for quicker battery fill ups.
