The guys at Keeley Electronics have done it again, redefining what it is an effects pedal can do, or is ‘supposed’ to do. Keeley have redefined the chorus effect. This is a new style of Chorus which, in the words of Keeley themselves, just ‘sounds right’.
Keeley’s ‘Seafoam Plus Chorus’, is a ‘true’ chorus and ADT with Reverb. It promises to forever alter the way you think about chorus. Why? Because until now this type of chorus was only available as part of an expensive DAW setup or in top-end studios. Whilst the Seafoam has been optimally tuned for guitar, there’s also certain voices and modes which have been specifically created for bass guitar.
Finally, the Seafoam has internal switching to allow for both vintage and modern tones, which serves to only enhance the versatility in this magnificent chorus effect.

A New Style of Chorus
a 'true' chorusIn Keeley’s ‘Seafoam Plus Chorus’, is the automatic doubler which was developed in their ground breaking 30ms Double Tracker. The ADT chorus is what Keeley likes to call ‘True Chorus’, because it creates a 2nd and 3rd voice, similar to a choir effect. Not only singing at differing times, but differing pitches.
Seafoam Mode: This mode offers exquisite sonic detail and the tone of a retro BBD analogue chorus unit. This is where you’ll find a regular chorus feature, the LFO. It delivers a classic tone that you’d be right to expect and which has become an iconic sound. Set a slow rate, a wide depth and bask is vast and spacious sounding chorus. Turn the mix all the way up for a vibrato effect. As the space control acts as a tone control here, you can go from super bright, to rich warm tones.
Dual Chorus Mode: Keeley created a frequency crossover-based dual-chorus engine. Imagine a dividing line, centered on the high E string. Take full control of the depth of chorus independently. Create the ultimate “Come As You Are” Nirvana of chorus tones. Craft a deep, pulsing chorus on the low end, and a near perfect calm on the top end. Or make the high-end and shimmer and waver while keeping the low end fixed!
