550W Corsair CS550M, Hybrid Modular, 80PLUS GOLD, 1x120mm, ATX v2.92, PSU is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Infuriating ball sleeve fan Ok, so, great in terms of power delivery. 80+ Gold at this sort of money is fantastic. And reviews have given the power delivery a good thumbs up. I've bought one for my desktop, and two for servers. The weakness is a very cheap 120x25mm 1500 CFM *Ball Sleeve* fan, which wears out after about a year, then vibrates and makes a lot of noise. I RMA'ed the first one, service was OK (2 days for RMA auth, 4 days with collect+, 5 days for RMA turnaround and another day for a courier). Same fault 18 months later... You can, at that point, either carry on with the RMA dance, leaving you without a PSU for 2 weeks and having to remove from chassis, put another in, and then repeat 2 weeks later. Or you can void the warranty and put in your own fan of a similar spec. Went with the DIY route the second time round. Easy to do, especially if you pickup some 3M Scotchlok connectors (Best thing since sliced bread).. Disappointing that you have to go to that effort when I'm sure a decent set of bearings on a PSU would set corsair back a few pennies extra in china. And not like they don't know anything about fans...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money! Amazing PSU, many great features for a decent price. 80+ Gold efficiency and semi modular which is great and has great electronic reviews online so its trusted. 100% recommend if you are looking for a new PSU in the price range or wattage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's not to like? It does the job of supplying power but with a nice touch, the plug in power leads means you only use what you need, avoiding clutter in the case. The unit is quiet, cool and efficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistent and easy to use (modular). Never scrimp on your power supply, ever. Always go 80+ efficiency and get the best PSU you can in your budget. A 550W isn't going to be going into the highest-end systems, but this is a great PSU and well worth the money, even if it seems like a lot to spend when there are cheap options out there. The modular design means you only have to deal with the cables you actually need, meaning a tidier PC and better air flow. The build quality is very high and it's very quiet. Can't really find fault with it at all. A great buy.

Questions & Answers

SATA power connectors

The table at the top lists this as having 6 SATA connectors, the table lower down says 5 - which is correct? (I'm pricing up a 6 drive home server, so that 6th one is important!)
