23/02/21 - This FAQ page is now closed. Remaining customers with pre-orders on the Digital edition console will be kept informed via email as soon as we have information on the next shipment arriving. Stock will be listed on the website for sale when it is available.

18/02/21 - We have received the expected shipments of both PS5 consoles this week. We now have only 16 of the DIGITAL edition left outstanding. If you are in the DIGITAL pre-order queue and wish to amend your order to a DISC edition for immediate shipping then please reply to the email sent out earlier this week by the end of 18th February. After this date we may not be able to offer you this option and you will remain in the queue for the next batch of DIGITAL edition. We don’t currently have a date of arrival for these.

15/02/21 - We have received confirmation that our next shipments of PS5 consoles will be arriving this week. We have updated the table with the latest information. As we have free stock of the DISC edition these will be offered out to the existing DIGITAL pre-order queue before they are released for general sale. All Digital customers will be sent an email with the option to upgrade today. We ask that pre-order customers reply within 24 hours so that we can process an amendment quickly. PLEASE ONLY REPLY TO THE EMAIL should you wish to upgrade. We have a dedicated team that will handle the amendments so the Customer Services and Live Chat teams will not be able to process this for you.

03/02/21 - We are still awaiting further shipment information from Sony for the coming weeks and will add this to the table as soon as we can.

20/01/21 - We have received the shipment of PS5 DISC version and these are shipping out to pre order customers. We are still awaiting further shipment information from Sony for the coming weeks and will add this to the table as soon as we can.

19/01/21 - We have a new shipment due to arrive. This contains the 134 of the DISC version but 0 of the Digital. We are awaiting more information from Sony on further shipments but currently do not have any dates. We will update this page with more information as soon as we have it.

14/01/21 - Currently we have still not received any information on when the next batch of PS5 stock will arrive. As soon as we have new information we will update this page and contact pre-order customers via email.

06/01/21 - We are still awaiting confirmed shipment dates and quantities from the supplier for both PS5 models. As soon as we have new information we will update this page and contact pre-order customers via email.

31/12/20 - No more stock is currently expected to arrive before the end of the year. The next update of stock incoming will be on 5th January.

21/12/20 - We have no further update on the arrival of the next shipment. No more stock is currently expected to arrive before the Christmas period.

09/12/20 - Today we have been given the devastating news from Sony that they have experienced further delays within the logistics chain. This has resulted in both of the expected shipment WAVES being affected, with WAVE 3 now being sometime in January 2021. WAVE 2 is arriving at Scan today but has significantly less stock that originally expected. Furthermore, we will not be receiving any more of the Digital edition this year. Although these circumstances are completely out of Scans control, and will affect many other retailers too, we wish to sincerely apologise to all of the customers who placed a pre-order with us with the faith of receiving it in time for the Christmas period. We have sent out an email to all affected customers offering the choice to keep their pre-order and wait for the stock to arrive or to receive a full refund. As yet we do not know how much stock will arrive in WAVE 3 so cannot guarantee that pre-orders will be fulfilled in January. We are working with Sony to confirm these numbers as soon as possible.

01/12/20 - We are still awaiting confirmation of dates for WAVE 2 from Sony. We still expect both waves to arrive before the Xmas period. As soon as we have more information we will update this page and the table.

26/11/20 - Today we received the WAVE 1 shipment. These have been shipped out today. We are now awaiting the information for WAVE 2 and will add to the table as soon as it is confirmed.

25/11/20 - We are still awaiting the WAVE 1 shipment to arrive as per the dates provided in the table. Once this arrives we expect to get more information on quantities for WAVE 2. As soon as we get any new information we will provide an update.

20/11/20 - No further update since yesterday. We are awaiting information on quantities of stock for WAVE 2 and 3. We expect to find out more in formation by Wednesday 25th however if we have any before then we will provide an update.

19/11/20 - Afternoon Update - Consoles shipped last night and are on the way to customers. Today we have sent out queue position emails to all pre-order customers. We have now received information from Sony on upcoming shipments due and have added a table to this page to show this. We will provide a weekly update on this page with the latest information that we have, and will send out updated queue position emails whenever we receive a new shipment. Sony informs us that the 3 WAVES will cover ALL of the outstanding pre-orders.

10/11/20 - Welcome to our PS5 FAQ page. We have added all of the most frequently asked questions that we have received since the pre-order launch to the bottom of this page. Our Customer service team is extremely busy at the moment so we would ask customers to please read these before contacting us as we may have already answered your question.

From Friday 20th November we will be adding the pre-order and shipment tracking table as well as starting to share pre-order queue position emails for both PS5 models.

We've put together the most asked questions around the PlayStation 5 launch. Please have a read though these before contacting our customer services team as we hope to answer most questions here to save you waiting. We will add any regularly asked questions to this FAQ.

Why do you take full payment for a pre-order?

If we did not charge, there would be a distorted queue as customers would simply register interest. This would give unrealistic forecasts for obvious reasons. Much in the same way as people book concert ticket, or pay for a seat on an airline ; you are paying for a future access to guarantee stock ; a pre-order works in exactly the same way. With the addition of the pre-order promise, you have the choice to be refunded immediately without any penalty.

Why can't I buy/pre-order a PS5?

As expected demand for the new console far exceeded the initial supply. We are now waiting to see what sort of allocation we will be given from Sony to fulfil our current pre-order queue. Once we have that information and can understand what the estimated wait time will be we can re-open for more pre orders.

Why did you take more pre-orders than your allocation?

Before the launch Sony did not provide an allocation to any retailer. We were asked to take pre-orders and then report back to Sony. After this they would allocate stock based on these numbers. Unfortunately the demand far exceeded the amount of units that Sony could produce so they have had to allocate a percentage of the pre-orders taken to each retailer. Once Sony confirmed the amounts we would get for launch we sent out an email to all pre-order customers to let them know if they will get one for launch or not.

If I don’t get one for launch how long will I be waiting?

Right now we do not currently know. After the launch stock has shipped we will share an email with ALL of the pre-order customers to let them know their exact queue position. Then, as soon as we get more information from Sony on a shipment schedule we will post that on this FAQ page in a table so that everyone can see. We will also send out weekly queue position updates along with an ETA for those who will get their PS5 on the next batch coming in.

When will the PS5 be on sale again?

Only when we are certain of allocating a future supply will we enable the buy button.
We are working hard with Sony to plan additional inventory and refer customers to the Pre-order Promise options.

Post PS5 launch how are you handling pre-orders?

Once we are able to re-open for pre-orders with an ETA, all pre-orders will be placed in a ‘first come first served’ queue for each model when you purchase. We will then ship out in order as the stock arrives. We will be sharing the expected delivery info we have from Sony on our FAQ page and have split out PS5 Digital and Disc version delivery info so it can been seen for each.

Will you have any free stock to sell before the end of 2020?

At this moment we think that it is unlikely that we will have free stock on the website before the end of this year. We do think we will be able to open for more pre-orders and when we do they will have an estimated delivery date displayed under the pre-order button. The fastest way to get a PS5 will be to place a pre-order when we re-open them.

I have already placed a pre-order with Scan for the PS5. What happens now?

You will have already received an email from Scan to let you know if you are going to get your console at launch or not. If you are not going to receive yours for launch you are now in a queue for the stock that will be coming in after the launch. After launch day we will email you again to let you know your exact queue position. Each week we will then send an updated queue position so that you can see how you are progressing. We will also publish a table on this FAQ page showing the expected shipments each week.
