Cooling - Air

Intel CPUs produce a lot of waste heat, and without a sufficient cooler will overheat, shutting down or damaging your system. It’s critical therefore to choose an appropriate CPU cooler.

This category lists a huge variety of air-coolers for Intel Core, Pentium and Celeron CPUs. Before you start browsing it’s important to know what CPU you have, as each generation of Intel CPUs uses different processor sockets and mounting mechanisms. Check your component documentation or our buyers guide to find out which sort of CPU cooler you should be looking for.

It's also a good idea to check the dimensions of the air-cooler you're interested in versus your case, as some air-coolers are too large to fit in all cases.

PC components produce a lot of waste heat, and without a sufficient cooling will overheat, shutting down or damaging your system. It’s critical therefore to choose an appropriate cooler.

The last thing to bear in mind when choosing a CPU, GPU or SSD cooler is Thermal Interface Material (TIM). This is a thin layer of paste that you spread out between the top of the component and the bottom of the heatsink or waterblock. TIM helps conduct heat out of the CPU by smoothing out imperfections in the surface on either side and is essential for good cooling.

Many coolers come with TIM pre-applied or packaged in a small syringe for you to apply, but it's worth checking before ordering. You can check for the presence of TIM on the product page of the cooler on the Scan website and clicking on the Specifications tab.

The products in this category provide a quick and easy way to remove unwanted Thermal Interface Material (TIM) without damaging your components. This may be because you're upgrading and need to replenish the TIM or want to replace the current TIM with a superior TIM.

PC components emit a lot of waste heat, and whether you opt for an air-cooler, all-in-one hydrocooler or custom watercooling loop your case will need fans to keep everything cool.

This category contains a huge variety of 80mm and 92mm fans, these are typically used in small form cases and rackmount server cases.

Keep an eye out for the airflow, normally measured in CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) with a higher number indicating more airflow. It's also worth looking at the sound level, normally measured in dBA, with a lower number indicating less noise.

This category contains a huge variety of 120mm fans, these used by a huge variety of cases, air-coolers, all-in-one hydrocoolers and watercooling radiators.
