Matched pairThe HS Series embodies the design philosophy on which Yamaha has long insisted for its studio monitors, and is now available as a special paired model that uses selected volume parts. The paired model series bears the designation of MP (Matched Pair), and MP stickers are affixed to the back of each unit. Manufactured at the same time and with paired serial numbers, the HS MP models can play a valued role in your recording, mixing, and mastering work.

From as early as the 1970's the instantly recognizable white cone speaker and signature sound of Yamaha's nearfield reference monitors have become a consistent industry standard for their unmatched accuracy. Different to studio monitors with added bass or treble frequencies which may sound more impressive at first, HS Series speakers were designed to give you the truest, precise reference possible, resulting in an ideal sonic platform to build on throughout the mixing process.

By joining together acquired knowledge and expertise with state-of-the-art sound technologies, Yamaha's speaker engineering team have studied and optimized every element that has contributed to making these monitors the most trusted available. The second-generation HS Series also includes a new 6.5" model to the line-up, offering its incredible accuracy to an even larger range of recording environments.

Fully Natural Sound ImageStarting with the legendary NS-10M, and continuing with the MSP and previous HS Series, this new lineup shares a design pprocess that enhances sonic purity without any coloration or change to the original sound. While many manufacturers shape the sound of their monitors to make them sound more impressive, Yamaha studio monitors are designed to provide the best possible mix by keeping the sound from your speakers is true to the original. HS Series nearfield reference monitors are the result of this philosophy, delivering a consistent sound image, with high resolution, and a flat response.

The HS Series features updated transducers that achieve incredibly smooth response over a large range of bandwidth. These transducers utilize an advanced magnetic field design that regulates the flow of magnetic response, providing seamless, natural sonic transitions. Each component's materials and design were meticulously re-examined, then optimized, to greatly improve the accuracy of signal reproduction throughout the audio spectrum.

HS Series speakers use an amplifier unit perfectly matched to the transducers utilized in each model of the series. Featuring bi-amp technology with an individual dedicated amp for both the woofer and the tweeter, this amplifier unit ensures that each HS Series speaker repeatedly delivers high-resolution sound with exceptionally flat response across the sound spectrum.

Controls & ConnectivityHS Series full-range models feature two response controls with complex settings that allow them to adapt to the surface acoustics of rooms of varying shape and size. ROOM CONTROL allows you to shape the unnatural, exaggerated low-end that can often take place when speakers are placed next to walls, while HIGH TRIM allows for more flexible control of high frequency response. For inputs, HS full-range speakers can accommodate a wide range of balanced and unbalanced sources including mixers, keyboards and audio interfaces with XLR and TRS phone jacks.

With the HS8S subwoofer, HIGH CUT control sets the cutoff frequency of subwoofer output high-frequency attenuation from 80Hz to 120Hz, while PHASE switch adjusts the phase of the subwoofer output. The LOW CUT switch and LOW CUT controls allows attenuation of low frequencies for output between 80Hz and 120Hz. The HS8S subwoofer features XLR and TRS phone jacks for inputs and XLR for outputs.
