Product Overview
When it comes to industry standard guitar compression, the Ego Compressor is now widely regarded as the compressor to have. Wamplers Ego Compressor takes what guitarists expect from a compressor and offers a new level of control.
When the compressor comes up in conversation as a purchase the most common question is what does it do? The most effective way to describe what it does is this- it evens things out level wise by bringing the louder parts down and the quieter parts up. Standard compressors will do this all day long but a good compressor like the Ego gives you the feel like that the standard compressors lack. As a guitar player you know what it "feels" like to play through a quality tube amp being pushed hard, that's what natural compression feels like.
Designing this pedal, Wampler focused on ensuring the playing dynamics could be retained and that the compressor didn't colour the tone at all. By incorporating a clean blend, it allows your original signal to be blended back in so you can get all the benefits of a great compressor (picking up the notes that aren't as strong and increasing sustain) but have the option to remove the squash at the front. With this control, you can have full country squash or open studio level parallel compression.
So, with a comprehensive array of controls and a core tone that is pure, you won't find a compressor that works as perfectly as an "always on" or as "an effect" and is more highly regarded than the Ego Compressor from Wampler Pedals.
