Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM Thermal Pad
The Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM is an advanced thermal interface material designed to combine the ease of installation of a thermal pad with the high-performance heat transfer characteristics of thermal paste. Based on phase change material (PCM) technology, the PhaseSheet PTM remains solid at room temperature for straightforward application before liquefying during operation to create an optimised thermal interface. Engineered for CPUs, GPUs, laptops, and custom cooling systems, this innovative thermal pad delivers long-lasting performance, reduced maintenance requirements, and improved resistance to pump-out effects for reliable cooling over time.
Solid When You Need It, Liquid When It Counts
Unlike traditional thermal paste, the PhaseSheet PTM is solid at room temperature, making installation cleaner and easier to manage. Once operating temperatures exceed approximately 45°C, the material transitions into a low-viscosity state that spreads across the contact surface to maximise heat transfer efficiency. As temperatures decrease, it solidifies again, maintaining its performance characteristics across repeated thermal cycles.
Built to Fight the Pump-Out Effect
One of the biggest challenges facing conventional thermal compounds is the pump-out effect, where repeated heating and cooling cycles gradually force thermal paste away from the contact surface. The PhaseSheet PTM is specifically engineered to minimise this phenomenon by contracting as it returns to a solid state, helping maintain consistent thermal performance over extended periods. This makes it particularly well suited to graphics cards, laptops, and systems with infrequent maintenance schedules.
Performance That Improves with Time
The PhaseSheet PTM reaches and stabilises its maximum thermal conductivity after approximately ten thermal cycles above 60°C. This burn-in behaviour allows the material to achieve an exceptionally thin interface layer, improving contact between the cooling solution and processor surface for sustained cooling performance.
Safe for Sensitive Components
Electrical safety is critical when working around exposed components, and the PhaseSheet PTM is electrically non-conductive. This makes it suitable for use on CPUs, GPUs, and other sensitive electronics without the risks associated with conductive thermal materials. The pad can also be trimmed to size, allowing it to accommodate a wide variety of applications and cooling configurations.
Engineered for High-Pressure Cooling Solutions
For optimal performance, the PhaseSheet PTM is designed to operate under contact pressures of approximately 300–400N. This enables the material to spread effectively into an ultra-thin thermal interface layer while maintaining excellent long-term stability. Combined with an operating temperature range of -75°C to +150°C, it is suitable for a broad range of demanding cooling environments.
A New Approach to Long-Term Cooling
By bridging the gap between traditional thermal paste and maintenance-free thermal sheets, the PhaseSheet PTM offers a compelling solution for enthusiasts and professionals seeking durable, high-performance thermal management. Whether upgrading a gaming GPU, refreshing a laptop cooler, or building a custom water-cooled system, it provides reliable thermal performance with minimal maintenance.
