Product Overview

Award Winning Quiet CPU Cooler

Tailored to provide superior RAM and PCIe compatibility, the NH-D15S is an asymmetrical single fan version of Noctua’s award-winning flagship model, the NH-D15. Thanks to its asymmetrical design, the NH-D15S clears the top PCIe slot on most Micro-ATX and ATX motherboards. At the same time, the single fan setup and recessed lower fins guarantee 100% RAM compatibility with memory modules of up to 65mm height. Users who have sufficient room can also upgrade the cooler with either a 120mm or round 140mm fan on the front fin stack for further improved performance in dual fan mode. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound and full six year manufacturer’s warranty, the NH-D15S forms a complete premium quality solution that combines dual tower efficiency with excellent compatibility and flexible upgrade options.

High-Compatibility Version of NH-D15

Compared to the award-winning NH-D15, the S-version uses an off-set, asymmetrical layout and a single instead of dual NF-A15 fans. This allows the NH-D15S to provide state-of-the-art heatsink performance while maintaining superior RAM and PCIe compatibility.

Excellent RAM Compatibility

Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15S provides 65mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks, making it compatible with most high end modules on the market. As the lower fins are recessed on both sides of the heatsink, compatibility is excellent not only on LGA115x and AMD, but also on LGA2011 where there are RAM slots on both sides of the socket.

Asymmetrical Layout for Better PCIe Compatibility

As many current motherboards have the top PCIe x16 slot sitting close to the socket, bigger heatsinks tend to block it. Due to its asymmetrical layout, the fin-stack of the NH-D15S is off-set towards the upper edge of the motherboard when installed in standard orientation. This allows it to clear the top PCIe x16 slot on most current µATX and ATX motherboard.

NF-A15 140mm fan

Complying with Noctua’s AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market.

Dual-Fan Ready

Using the supplied extra fan clips, the NH-D15S can be upgraded with either a second round-frame 140mm fan with 120mm mounting holes (such as the NF-A15) for maximum performance or a common 120mm fan (such as the NF-F12) for improving performance while maintaining compatibility with RAM modules of up to 45mm height.

PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor

The NF-A15 premium fan supplied with the NH-D15S supports PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the motherboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.

Excellent Component Cooling

Extending below the fin-stacks, the large NF-A15 fan not only contributes to the superb CPU cooling capabilities of the NH-D15S but also provides massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.

SecuFirm2™ Mounting System

Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 (LGA2011-0 & LGA2011-3), LGA2066 and AMD (AM4 (since 2019), AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, FM2(+)), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D15S guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Compatibility with Past and Future Sockets

Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-D15S can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.

NT-H1 Thermal Compound

Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua’s NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

Six Year Warranty

Noctua products are renowned for their impeccable quality and outstanding longevity. Like all Noctua fans, the supplied NF-A15 features an MTBF rating of more than 150,000 hours and the entire NH-D15S package comes with a full six years manufacturer’s warranty.

Intel’s been on a mission of late. That mission revolves around grouping and standardising key technologies under various banners that are designed to ensure hardware compatibility and consumer ease of use. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Noctua NH-D15S Dual Radiator Quiet CPU Cooler, 1x 140mm PWM Fan, Copper Heatpipes, Aluminium Fins, Intel/AMD is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need nothing else. After trying many different coolers over the years (air and aios) I decided to try a big noctua. Temps are excellent but the big thing for me was the noise, or lack of. You may get slightly better temp with a good aio, but its wont last as they all dry up and they will be nowhere near as quiet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good! I would have given it 5* except that the clips for the fan are a bit fiddly. I took them off and then spent 20 minutes trying to work out how they went back on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'ts cool Noctua NH-D15S is a huge fan! It fits no problem with 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB (4x8GB) Much more quiet than my old CPU cooler which was a Coolermaster V8.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A well designed and good quality CPU Cooler I purchased this CPU Cooler to be used in conjunction with an Intel 7820X processor. The asymmetrical design of the cooler allows RAM and PCIe compatibility. It is well made and comes with one fan, with an option to fit another. I am using this with self build DAW and find the single fan extremely quiet, yet efficient enough to keep my processor cool. The information provided on the Noctua website is excellent. The instructions which came with the Cooler could have been better, but everything is installed and running as it should be now. All parts for this new build were supplied by Scan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet cooling A very efficient processor cooler - which comes with a single Noctua PWM fan (which is itself very quiet in operation). It's quite a large 'lump' overall, which has the supplied fan sitting in the middle between the two banks of fins. Note: the fan itself is slightly wider than the fins of the cooler - so it will stick out just a little! When fitting this cooler to the processor installed in my MSI motherboard I found it almost impossible to attach the cooler onto the processor when the mobo was already installed into the case, and had to resort to taking the motherboard back out of the case to do so! YMMV of course. If you do take the fan out of the middle when you're trying to fit the cooler in, just be aware that the pre-formed wires (which hold the fan in place on either side of the fins) will be very close to the top of the case - and unless you have long, spidery fingers, pulling those wires into place to hold the fan in position will be "difficult", and you'll probably skin your knuckles in the process! My advice would be to fit the cooler first - including the fan connection to the motherboard's CPUFAN connector, and then put the motherboard into the case. In my case I was building a very quiet Audio workstation which used components that in normal service wouldn't be producing much heat, and therefore slow speed fans would provide sufficient movement of air to keep everything within the thermal envelope. Be aware that if you use certain passively-cooled Video cards (as I was with my Sapphire 6600, which also uses heat-pipe technology to conduct the heat away from the GPU) when the Sapphire card was fitted in the first x16 PCIe slot on the MSI motherboard, then the fins of the GPU cooler were too close to the processor cooler fan. However, the Palit Graphics card I also purchased (which is also passively-cooled) had its cooling fins in a slightly different position and these were well clear of the side of the Noctua fan.

Does this come with the mounting bracket(s) required for installation (Socket 2066)?

Hi there, I'm curious whether it comes with the mounting bracket for motherboards, or whether I need to purchase it separately? I'll be building an X299 9940X system soon. Cheers.
