Built on the basis of the legendary NH-D14 and carrying on its quest for ultimate quiet cooling performance, Noctua's flagship model NH-D15 is an elite-class dual tower cooler for the highest demands. Its expanded heatpipe layout and two premium grade NF-A15 140mm fans with PWM support for automatic speed control allow it to further improve the NH-D14's award-winning efficiency. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, Noctua's proven NT-H1 thermal compound and full six years manufacturer's warranty, the NH-D15 forms a complete premium quality solution that represents a deluxe choice for overclockers and silent-enthusiasts alike.
FeaturesBased on the award-winning NH-D14 Noctua's NH-D14 has received more than 350 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines, making it one of the most successful premium heatsinks ever built. With its expanded layout and dual NF-A15 fans, the NH-D15 further improves the D14's much acclaimed quiet cooling performance.
Six heatpipe dual tower design As compared to conventional single tower heatsinks, the NH-D15's fine-tuned six heatpipe dual tower design provides more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency in dual fan mode.
Widened fin stack and expanded heatpipe layout Compared to the NH-D14, the NH-D15's fin-stack has been widened from 140 to 150mm and its heatpipes are now spaced further apart, which allows for a more uniform heat distribution over a larger surface area and thus contributes to the NH-D15's superior efficiency.
High RAM compatibility in single fan mode Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high end RAM modules on the market. In dual fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard height RAM (up to 32mm). Please note: In chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm.
Dual NF-A15 140mm fans The NH-D15 features two of Noctua's premium class NF-A15 140mm fans. Complying with Noctua's AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market.
PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor The NF-A15 premium fans supplied with the NH-D15 support PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.
Excellent component cooling Extending below the fin-stacks, the large NF-A15 fans not only contribute to the NH-D15's superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provide massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.
SecuFirm2 mounting system Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 and AMD (AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, FM2(+)), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D15 guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.
Compatibility with past and future sockets Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-D15 can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.
NT-H1 thermal compound Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua's NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe)
Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008
The purpose of this TekSpek is to delineate the publicly known features of Intel’s next generation desktop microarchitecture. Codenamed Conroe and officially titled Intel Core 2 Duo, it’s loosely based on the current mobile Yonah (Core Duo) underpinnings.
This TekSpek explains what AMD’s AMD64 CPU instruction set architecture (ISA) is, shows what CPUs implement it from both AMD and Intel, and explains what software is available to run on those 64-bit consumer processors.
The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.
There’s been a lot of hype about Intel’s Core 2 recently, even since they launched Core in fact. Words like Conroe, Badaxe and Allendale have been flying around. The bottom line is that Core 2 is the name of Intel’s latest line of CPUs, based on a new micro-architecture, designed for speed and efficiency.
Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

An incremental improvement over D14As a standalone product, the D15 is fantastic. It's sturdy, balanced, securely packaged with everything I could reasonably expect included, and appears to sail through its primary function.
I can't find much to recommend it over its predecessor, the D14, and I wouldn't recommend this product as an upgrade for owners of the previous model, but I would recommend it to everyone else.

Excellent cooler although still expensiveGreat cooler, just that price, but is worth it every penny
Cooling my i7-5820k OC to 4.5GHz with ease and running lot cooler than Corsair H100i v2 at same voltage and same frequency
Very happy with purchase,if I would recommend, without the questions

One of the best air coolersI recently purchased this cooler to overclock my AMD FX 8350 and I can honestly say this is one of the best air coolers on the market.
I'm an overclocking enthusiast and wanted to take my CPU to 5ghz, so I installed the NH-D15 and now my temps are around 23 degrees idle and 58 on max load during stress tests, this is excellent considering the 8350 runs very hot at 5ghz and the NH-D15 keeps it under 60 degrees during full load.
The cooler is quiet and very efficient and was easy to install.
In summary, if you are looking for a premium air cooler for serious overclocking then this is the cooler for you.

possibly the best air cooler?there are only 2 downsides to this cooler.. the ugly fans, and the massive size. just about managed to fit into a NZXT H440 with less than 10mm of clearance to the window. (also using low profile ram) also no matter how much RGB stuff you cram into your case those fans are still gonna look vomit brown. other than that everything else is as you would expect from noctua. insultingly easy to install, quiet and cool. Scan service and delivery great as always

Very satisfiedI bought this after my AIO fractal design water cooler pump brock. First time using an air cooler which Im satisfied with the results, I'm getting 28c to 34c idle be pending on the room temp. Around mid-high 60c with load. Very easy to assemble. Currently have the silent adapters on the fans but it's still nosier then my previous set up of passively cooling and just having the water cooler pump working. However it is just a little huming sound, nothing big. Can have both fan on even with high clearance ram just have to offset a fan a little bit. With a 6 year warranty from the manufacturer you can't go wrong. only reason I wouldn't recommend it is because of the asietics of the fans if you have a side panel with a window as its not the best to look at.... you can alway spray them

Great cooling optionThis has worked really well for to help bring i7 3820 OC temps down to an acceptable level (mid 50's for gaming at 1080/60 and mid 70's for Prime 95). Fitted fine into a Corsair 400r. Fans are quiet.

Not much to say, it's quiet!Simple installation, comes with Intel 2011 and 115x mounting kits, as well as AMD although I did not use those. This was my first air cooler I've ever fit, I have always used the Corsair Hydro series coolers and they are some of the easiest coolers to mount. I would say this is about the same in comparison, I didn't need any help to hold the fans or cooler while fitting which is a nice bonus.
Overall a great cooler that's quiet, has great performance and is easy to fit. This cooler is big, so check your case clearance from the motherboard tray to the side panel. Also if you don't have low profile RAM you will be limited to how the cooler is oriented.
As this is quite a large radiator what case(s) would recommend for housing it?

What's the temps i7 4790K?
What are the idle and load temps do you get on stock? as I'm buying this soon and is it easy to install? also one more question is the thermal paste it comes with better then the antec mx 4 or about the same?
Asked by: nfxcr3w
I've run i7 4790k OC to 4.6GHz and 4.7GHz on Corsair H100i v2 and temps has been at 4.6GHz around 70's on load,4.7GHz temps has been in 80's and that's with fans on full
Have run same H100i v2 on i7-5820k which runs lot hotter than i7-4790k and my temps under load at OC 4.4GHz has been at 72-75°C and at 4.5GHz temp has been under load at 82°C,switched to NH-D15 and my temps are now at 65°C under heavy load at 4.5GHz and at 4.4GHz my temps are under 60°C,idle temps are in high 20's or earlier 30's
If its easy to install very easy, easier than any cooler what I've installed, its pleasure to install this cooler
I would use Noctua supplied paste,if you are looking at any review then most of people using NH-H1 which is supplied, although I'm using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, but I'm using this paste on my GPU,difference between top thermal pastes is 2-3°C max,but still I would use Noctua supplied paste
Hope this helps

Compatible with Dominator Platinums?
Hi, I was wondering if the heatsink would block me from putting Dominator Platinums on a Z97 Gryphon Motherboard, any help is much appreciated.
Asked by: SimonPenni
Am using CORAIR VENGEANCE and the fan fits in their perfectly. I am only using 2 slots of ram. I would think you could adjust the fan to fit above them. Or fit it the other side but this is not recommended, if you want to get the best cooling for overclocking.
