Product Overview Built on the basis of the legendary NH-D14 and carrying on its quest for ultimate quiet cooling performance, Noctua's flagship model NH-D15 is an elite-class dual tower cooler for the highest demands. Its expanded heatpipe layout and two premium grade NF-A15 140mm fans with PWM support for automatic speed control allow it to further improve the NH-D14's award-winning efficiency. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, Noctua's proven NT-H1 thermal compound and full six years manufacturer's warranty, the NH-D15 forms a complete premium quality solution that represents a deluxe choice for overclockers and silent-enthusiasts alike. Features Based on the award-winning NH-D14
Noctua's NH-D14 has received more than 350 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines, making it one of the most successful premium heatsinks ever built. With its expanded layout and dual NF-A15 fans, the NH-D15 further improves the D14's much acclaimed quiet cooling performance.

Six heatpipe dual tower design
As compared to conventional single tower heatsinks, the NH-D15's fine-tuned six heatpipe dual tower design provides more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency in dual fan mode.

Widened fin stack and expanded heatpipe layout
Compared to the NH-D14, the NH-D15's fin-stack has been widened from 140 to 150mm and its heatpipes are now spaced further apart, which allows for a more uniform heat distribution over a larger surface area and thus contributes to the NH-D15's superior efficiency.

High RAM compatibility in single fan mode
Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high end RAM modules on the market. In dual fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard height RAM (up to 32mm). Please note: In chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm.

Dual NF-A15 140mm fans
The NH-D15 features two of Noctua's premium class NF-A15 140mm fans. Complying with Noctua's AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market.

PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor
The NF-A15 premium fans supplied with the NH-D15 support PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced from 1500 to 1200rpm using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.

Excellent component cooling
Extending below the fin-stacks, the large NF-A15 fans not only contribute to the NH-D15's superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provide massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.

SecuFirm2 mounting system
Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 and AMD (AM3(+), AM2(+), FM1, FM2(+)), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D15 guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Compatibility with past and future sockets
Complying with the open SecuFirm standard, the NH-D15 can be made compatible with the older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, which is provided by Noctua free of charge. If technically possible, Noctua will also provide upgrade kits for future sockets.

NT-H1 thermal compound
Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from hardware journalists around the world, Noctua's NT-H1 is a proven professional grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The best fan Superquiet CPU cooler, top value from Scan. Easy to install, its large so check measurements, does the job perfectly and I think Noctua fans are the best on the market. 09 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great cooling option This has worked really well for to help bring i7 3820 OC temps down to an acceptable level (mid 50's for gaming at 1080/60 and mid 70's for Prime 95). Fitted fine into a Corsair 400r. Fans are quiet. 22 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Not much to say, it's quiet! Simple installation, comes with Intel 2011 and 115x mounting kits, as well as AMD although I did not use those. This was my first air cooler I've ever fit, I have always used the Corsair Hydro series coolers and they are some of the easiest coolers to mount. I would say this is about the same in comparison, I didn't need any help to hold the fans or cooler while fitting which is a nice bonus. Overall a great cooler that's quiet, has great performance and is easy to fit. This cooler is big, so check your case clearance from the motherboard tray to the side panel. Also if you don't have low profile RAM you will be limited to how the cooler is oriented. 01 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Huge! - But does the job This is a massive heatsink, a little bit on the expensive side - but you get what you pay for. The performance is fantastic, and it's super quiet. For anyone wanting to overclock, but prefers to stick with air cooling instead of water cooling - this is definitely the heatsink to buy. Just check carefully for case/motherboard compatibility before you buy. 14 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's a beast, but it works brilliantly :) This thing is HUGE, but I guess that's how it is able to get such great results - obviously not for mini cases! I have this in a windowless Silverstone FT05 midi case and it JUST fits with nothing to spare - phew! The 2nd optional fan only just fits on my ASUS X99 Deluxe mobo - it doesn't sit flush because it is on top of the RAM modules, but fortunately the clips are tolerant of this. One feature I wasn't aware of is that it comes with two adapter leads to cut the RPM in half - as someone trying to build a silent PC this was a really nice feature and I can still run my system overclocked with minimal noise pollution which is just what I wanted. 19 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Temps Recently bought this to upgrade my old heat sink Gelid Tranquillo Rev 2 i was getting highs of 65c with it but since purchasing the Noctua NH-D15 the temps never exceed 57c on my core i7 4790k. I idle from a cold boot 24c to 30c on full load like video rendering i get 57c top. When gaming like GTA V i get around 49c to 50c best excellent buy a must have for a high end cpu. Fits perfectly in my 780T Case it still has room for more height the only thing i'd recommend is getting low profile memory as the 2nd fan raises up higher abit. Also make sure you're motherboard can fit this has it can overtake the first pci-e slot but the msi gaming 5 motherboard had no issues with it still roomy. It's true what they say pay more you get the best. 13 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Noctua NH-D15 Dual Radiator Quiet CPU Cooler with two NH-A15 Fans Great Cooling fan!!!!! I have my system Overclocked @4.7ghz with a AMD FX 8370 and it definitely not struggling, I am very happy with the temperatures my system is running at, I would highly recommend this for cooling. One more thing if your thinking of overclocking make sure this cooler is back up with good motherboard and PSU. I am using a Asus Crosshair V Formula Z AMD 990FX Motherboard. It's not just one component that get's a good overclock. 03 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! Very good cooler! Better than some water cooling systems. 07 May 2015

Answer:
Hello,

Most case manufacturers will list a maximum cooler height specification on their products, so we recommend finding one that you like the look of and then checking that it meets the below criteria!

In order to check whether the cooler isn’t too high for the case you have in mind, please check the distance from the motherboard tray to the side panel (tower cases) or top panel (desktop cases). If this distance is bigger than the height of the cooler (165mm) + 15mm (motherboard spacers + motherboard + CPU), the height/width of the case should be sufficient!

Kind regards

The Fractal Design R4 fits it absolutely fine, and unless you're using a very shallow case, your main concern should probably be the motherboard.

Answer:
Am using CORAIR VENGEANCE and the fan fits in their perfectly. I am only using 2 slots of ram. I would think you could adjust the fan to fit above them. Or fit it the other side but this is not recommended, if you want to get the best cooling for overclocking.

Answer:
Yes, if you are willing to either use a single fan on the cooler or are able to move the second fan above the RAM higher up the heatsink than standard if your case has the clearance.

See below for more

Corsair Dominator Platinum modules are 51mm in height

From the Noctua Website: Noctua NH-D15 FAQs

It is still possible to use RAM modules with up to 64mm height in single fan mode. In dual fan mode, the front fan will sit above the RAM slots as well. In this case, Noctua recommends using standard height RAM (up to 32mm). However, in chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm (e.g. moving the fan 5mm up will increase the total height from 165 to 170mm and make room for 37mm tall modules).
