The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

One of the best air coolersI recently purchased this cooler to overclock my AMD FX 8350 and I can honestly say this is one of the best air coolers on the market.
I'm an overclocking enthusiast and wanted to take my CPU to 5ghz, so I installed the NH-D15 and now my temps are around 23 degrees idle and 58 on max load during stress tests, this is excellent considering the 8350 runs very hot at 5ghz and the NH-D15 keeps it under 60 degrees during full load.
The cooler is quiet and very efficient and was easy to install.
In summary, if you are looking for a premium air cooler for serious overclocking then this is the cooler for you.

possibly the best air cooler?there are only 2 downsides to this cooler.. the ugly fans, and the massive size. just about managed to fit into a NZXT H440 with less than 10mm of clearance to the window. (also using low profile ram) also no matter how much RGB stuff you cram into your case those fans are still gonna look vomit brown. other than that everything else is as you would expect from noctua. insultingly easy to install, quiet and cool. Scan service and delivery great as always

Very satisfiedI bought this after my AIO fractal design water cooler pump brock. First time using an air cooler which Im satisfied with the results, I'm getting 28c to 34c idle be pending on the room temp. Around mid-high 60c with load. Very easy to assemble. Currently have the silent adapters on the fans but it's still nosier then my previous set up of passively cooling and just having the water cooler pump working. However it is just a little huming sound, nothing big. Can have both fan on even with high clearance ram just have to offset a fan a little bit. With a 6 year warranty from the manufacturer you can't go wrong. only reason I wouldn't recommend it is because of the asietics of the fans if you have a side panel with a window as its not the best to look at.... you can alway spray them

Great cooling optionThis has worked really well for to help bring i7 3820 OC temps down to an acceptable level (mid 50's for gaming at 1080/60 and mid 70's for Prime 95). Fitted fine into a Corsair 400r. Fans are quiet.

Not much to say, it's quiet!Simple installation, comes with Intel 2011 and 115x mounting kits, as well as AMD although I did not use those. This was my first air cooler I've ever fit, I have always used the Corsair Hydro series coolers and they are some of the easiest coolers to mount. I would say this is about the same in comparison, I didn't need any help to hold the fans or cooler while fitting which is a nice bonus.
Overall a great cooler that's quiet, has great performance and is easy to fit. This cooler is big, so check your case clearance from the motherboard tray to the side panel. Also if you don't have low profile RAM you will be limited to how the cooler is oriented.

Huge! - But does the jobThis is a massive heatsink, a little bit on the expensive side - but you get what you pay for.
The performance is fantastic, and it's super quiet. For anyone wanting to overclock, but prefers to stick with air cooling instead of water cooling - this is definitely the heatsink to buy.
Just check carefully for case/motherboard compatibility before you buy.
As this is quite a large radiator what case(s) would recommend for housing it?

What's the temps i7 4790K?
What are the idle and load temps do you get on stock? as I'm buying this soon and is it easy to install? also one more question is the thermal paste it comes with better then the antec mx 4 or about the same?

I've run i7 4790k OC to 4.6GHz and 4.7GHz on Corsair H100i v2 and temps has been at 4.6GHz around 70's on load,4.7GHz temps has been in 80's and that's with fans on full
Have run same H100i v2 on i7-5820k which runs lot hotter than i7-4790k and my temps under load at OC 4.4GHz has been at 72-75°C and at 4.5GHz temp has been under load at 82°C,switched to NH-D15 and my temps are now at 65°C under heavy load at 4.5GHz and at 4.4GHz my temps are under 60°C,idle temps are in high 20's or earlier 30's
If its easy to install very easy,easier than any cooler what I've installed,its pleasure to install this cooler
I would use Noctua supplied paste,if you are looking at any review then most of people using NH-H1 which is supplied,although I'm using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut,but I'm using this paste on my GPU,difference between top thermal pastes is 2-3°C max,but still I would use Noctua supplied paste

Compatible with Dominator Platinums?

Am using CORAIR VENGEANCE and the fan fits in their perfectly. I am only using 2 slots of ram. I would think you could adjust the fan to fit above them. Or fit it the other side but this is not recommended, if you want to get the best cooling for overclocking.
