Meris - 'Ottobit Jr' - Bitcrusher/Filter Pedal

'#1 best guitar pedal of 2017' - vintage king
Introducing the ‘Ottobit Jr’ from Meris. You could be forgiven for asking ‘What exactly is the Ottobit Jr?’… a fair question. In it’s loosest terms, it could be called a bitcrusher, but it would be insulting to call it just that. It is a ‘means of unleashing the destructive effects of digital distortion’, with stereo functionality, a 6-step sequencer, a synth-like resonant low-pass ladder filter, triggered stutter effects with 16 preset memory slots and MIDI I/O functionalities. Phew…
In Meris’ own words… the Ottobit Jr is ‘a maniacal little machine, inspired by vintage gaming consoles’.
Arcade Dreams Reborn
The Ottobit Jr borrows all the parts that cemented the original Meris Ottobit 500 series as such an innovative piece of studio equipment, and packs it all into one tough and rugged pedal which can find a home on anybody’s pedal board, be they a guitarist, bassist or synth player.
In short, if you’re not afraid of getting lost down creative avenues and aren’t afraid of sounds which may be deemed by some as a little ‘out there’, the Ottobit Jr may very well be your new favourite toy.

WHEN CHIPS RULED THE SCENE Ottobit Jr is a loaded device. A raw, fuzzed up bitcrusher with variable sample rate, triggerable stutter effects, a 6-step sequencer module and a low pass filter that is guaranteed to fry your mind, rich and warm in tone which can hold it’s own against any of the classic analogue synth filters around. Meris being Meris, this is all of course able to be sync’d and controlled via tap-tempo, expression pedal or MIDI on the rear of the Ottobit Jr.

handcrafted algorithms This all sounds very fun and cool, but you may be wondering about its practicality. Fear not, Meris made sure that the Ottobit Jr always remains incredibly reactive to your playing, this unique little device can see you flit from raw, thick, chainsaw like fuzz tones, straight to retro arcade bleeps, then into a wall of 6-step sequencing and jagged stutters without ever sounding out of place or unmusical to your ear.
Let the Ottobit Jr from Meris take you to a side scrolling, coin collecting world from yesteryear, full of pitch/filter/crush sequencers and a resonant low pass filter that hold’s up against the best analogue synth’s in the world.
