Keeley - 'Red Dirt Germanium'
The New ModKeeley generated new mod after already having struck gold with their original Red Dirt Overdrive. By modifying the circuit, Keeley came found a way to have variable gain on different parts of the frequency response. Although the change in the circuit may be small, its never been done this way in a tube screamer type of circuit.
The result is an exceptional sounding overdrive giving you more of everything. It cleans up incredibly well using the volume control whilst having the option to dial in plenty more gain. It breathes new life into the standard tube screamer sound by enabling differing gain rates for the bass response, the bass stays tight and punchy throughout. The mid-range and highs are come with huge sustain and saturation with a fantastic balance.
At A Glance
• Dynamic gain control accommodates for different styles of playing
• Expressive tube sounding overdrive, perfect for pushing your tone further
• Circuitary makes for tight bass with cutting midrange and tons of sustain
• Germanium transistors used to create tube screamer type overdrive
• Built by hand in Oklahoma USA
Red Dirt History
Searing SustainThe Red Dirt overdrive started with the goal of finding the perfect classic drive sound whilst offering new levels of sonic versatility to accommodate for a wider range of musical styles. Founder and head engineer Robert Keeley took this idea and included the incredible sounds found within the original “Mod Plus” and “Baked” modified pedals and added refinements found exclusively in his custom pedals.
A Keeley designed FET input stage allows the overdrive to breakup in a whole new way, honest “tube like” tones that will make your leads sing and add more dynamics and expression to your rhythm playing, adding a whole new dimension to your tone.
It all comes together to offer an incredibly dynamic overdrive, with bite and clarity that allows you to cut through a busy mix, while keeping the punchy midrange. These tones along with the Keeley standard of U.S.A. hand-built quality using premium components, the Red Dirt overdrive will be a fine addition to any pedal board.
