BOSS DD200

with sounds inherited from the BOSS DD-500
2020 saw the release of a new series of pedals from stompbox overlords BOSS, the ‘200’ series.
This series marks a new generation of pedals that manages to condense ultra-advanced sound and versatility into a compact size. Despite the 200 series cutting-edge technology, BOSS have ensured the controls remain intuitive and operation is simple. Across the 200 series range, all pedals boast truly state-of-the-art audio quality with 32-bit AD/DA, 32-bit internal processing and 96kHz sampling rate, alongside support for additional control via expression pedals or MIDI.
The new DD-200 from Boss marries together the premium sounds and features inherited from the flagship DD-500 and places these into a brilliantly compact pedalboard friendly format. 12 versatile modes deliver a broad spectrum of delay textures from modern-day digital, right through to timeless analogue classic delays. There’s even an integrated looper that’s on hand if you like the idea of jamming over delay soaked loops, alongside a selectable carryover function for fluid transitions between memories.
'Any Style of Delay Imaginable...'

Twelve Modes, Unlimited Sounds
With a dozen different modes to play with, the DD-200 delivers pretty much any style of delay imaginable with a pedalboard friendly footprint.
At your disposal are ultra-smooth clean digital delays, psychedelic analogue chasms and authentic retro sounds courtesy of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo and Binson Echorec 2. There’s even scope for creating reverse delays, lo-fi tones and vibrant rhythmic sounds with layer upon layer of textured delays, and thanks to the Tera Echo, Shimmer and Pad Echo modes, rich, ambient sounds drenched in gorgeous delay are just a knob turn away.
Save and Recall Your Favorite Setups

128 total presetsThe DD-200 boasts 127 user memories as well as real-time panel setting, handing you 128 total presets to choose from. Any range of consecutive memories and the panel setting can be saved for scrolling access from a footswitch. It’s even able to limit the scrolling range or assign memories directly for speedy recall, perfect for when time is of the essence.
If you seek even greater depth in control, setups can be quickly recalled via program change messages from an external MIDI capable device. By enabling the carryover function, delay repeats will continue to sound as you change memories, enabling seamless transitions between sounds.
Deep Real-Time Control

midi capableBy default, the DD-200’s variable-function footswitches give access to various basic funcitons such as bypass, memory scrolling, tap tempo and control over the looper. However, it’s simple to reassign these with different functions such as hold, warp and a host of other functions. Greater external control is also possible via footswitches or an expression pedal, and MIDI I/O is also on hand provided via mini TRS jacks.
Through MIDI it’s possible to daisy-chain various 200 series pedals and select memories on each of them simultaneously, and furthermore control a broad spectrum of functions from MIDI devices like the ES-8 and ES-5 effects switchers.
integrated looper functionalityFeel like getting creative? Try pressing the DD-200’s dual footswitches simultaneously and this transforms the DD-200 into looper mode. With upto 60 seconds of mono recording available, operation is intuitive and simple to get to grips with, and since the looper engine runs independently, it’s possible to develop expressive and creative loops with any of the DD-200’s elegant delay sounds.

At your command are super-clean digital delays, gritty analog echoes, and spot-on retro sounds from the Roland RE-201 Space Echo and Binson Echorec 2. There’s also a variety of options for creating reverse effects, lo-fi tones, and pulsing rhythmic sounds with layered delays.
