ASRock TURIND8UD-2T/X550 Motherboard

The ASRock Rack TURIND8UD-2T/X550 is a compact Deep-Micro ATX SP5 server board for AMD EPYC 9005/9004, focused on dense PCIe 5.0 expansion and integrated 10GbE with IPMI management.

CPU and Socket Platform

This board uses a single Socket SP5 (LGA 6096) and supports AMD EPYC 9005 and 9004 series processors, including models with AMD 3D V-Cache and 97x4 series. It is designed for CPUs up to 400 W TDP, targeting high-core-count, compute- and memory-intensive workloads in a single-socket configuration.

Memory Subsystem

There are 8 DDR5 DIMM slots in a 1DPC layout, supporting DDR5 RDIMM and 3DS RDIMM at speeds up to 6400 MHz. Maximum supported capacity is up to 4 TB, enabling very large in-memory datasets for virtualization, databases, and caching.

PCIe 5.0 and CXL Expansion

The board provides 4 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots that can also operate with CXL 2.0 (CXL 1.1 when using certain EPYC 9004/97x4 CPUs), giving high-bandwidth connectivity for GPUs, accelerators, or NVMe expanders. PCIe 5.0 bandwidth makes it suitable for next-generation storage and accelerator cards where link speed is critical.

MCIO, SATA, and Storage

There are 2 MCIO connectors that can each be used either as PCIe 5.0 x8 or as fan-out for 8 SATA 6 Gb/s ports, plus 2 further MCIO (PCIe 5.0 x8) and 1 MCIO (PCIe 5.0 x4), allowing very flexible mapping between NVMe and SATA backplanes. In total, the platform can expose up to 16 SATA 6 Gb/s ports when cabled appropriately, which is useful for dense HDD/SSD storage nodes.

Onboard M.2 Support

The board includes 2 M.2 M-key slots (PCIe 5.0 x4) supporting 2230/2242/2260/2280 devices. These are ideal for OS boot drives or high-speed cache devices without consuming PCIe card slots.

Networking and Remote Management

Networking is provided by an Intel X550-AT2 controller offering 2 RJ45 10GbE ports, giving dual 10Gbase-T connectivity directly on the board. Integrated IPMI-based remote management allows out-of-band control, monitoring, and remote console, which is essential for datacenter deployment and remote sites.

Power and Form Factor

The TURIND8UD-2T/X550 uses a Deep-Micro ATX form factor at 10.4" x 10.5", fitting many rackmount and short-depth chassis while still offering four x16 slots. It supports a standard ATX PSU via adapter and can alternatively accept 12 V DC-IN via three 8-pin ATX 12 V connectors, giving flexibility for different chassis and power backplane designs.

Internal Headers and Management Features

Internal headers include multiple fan connectors, thermal sensor inputs, SGPIO, SMBus, PMBus, IPMB, system panel, TPM (SPI), and a chassis intrusion/system fault header set, enabling full integration with backplanes and chassis management. The AMI UEFI BIOS with 256 Mb SPI flash supports features such as Instant Flash, ACPI 6.4+ power management, and SMBIOS 3.5+ compliance for integration with modern monitoring stacks.
