AMD Ryzen™ 5 1600X, S AM4, Six Core, 12 Thread, 3.6GHz, 4.0GHz Turbo, 16MB Cache, 95W, CPU, Retail is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMD stole me from an Intel purchase So to give some context to the title, I nearly went with a I7-7700k earlier in the year, but then AMD launched Ryzen and like most I glared optimistically from across the room as I was on a FX-8350, which for multi-task and photo-editing performed well, however became a bottleneck for gaming. So I waited for the Ryzen bug fixes which came and after a few months from launch I finally built a new computer and chucked one of these in there. Its been a couple months and it has not let me down yet with temperatures (on liquid) staying low, and for photo-editing, graphic design and gaming, this CPU just hasn't cared and powers through just about anything I throw at it. So I would say worth every penny I spent and I would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great multi-threading cpu Great cpu, I think the best of all Ryzen series if you don't need 8 cores. People say get a non X 1600 and overclock it but I think this cpus are binned; most non x 1600 stop at 3.8 or 3.9Ghz; this one does 4.1Ghz easily with 1.39v. With better cooling 4.2Ghz for everyday use is possible. Overall great product if it wasn't for the ram problems that this platform has, still after 4 months since release. If you can put up with ramdon black screens go for it, Ryzen is for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 1600x What can I say this is the sweet spot CPU from Amd if you don't need a cooler. It will overclockers as long as you get the right memory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Went back to and I was intel for 5 years now I was a big fan of the second generation i7s so I build my gaming beast at the time with a 2700k clock at 4.5 I got lucky to get it soo high and runing cool but after seeing zen I know it was time to upgrade so happy I did has soon has I update bios and clock my ram to 3200 started this monster up it was instant love runs good stays cool clock it to 4.1 stable I love it such power and speed for this price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably the best Ryzen CPU for power vs value Yes, the R7 1800X is more powerful, yes it has that fancy cooler, but you're getting about 75% of that CPU for about 50% of the price. I picked this up about a month after the original R7 CPUs were released for a partial rebuild of my machine. As far as performance goes, it's a huge jump up from the old AMD FX-series chips. With the same GPU fitted I found FPS more or less doubled in the Rise of the Tomb Raider benchmark, everything maxed out, coming in at just a nudge under 60FPS average paired with an RX480, which I'm more than happy with. If you're looking for pure gaming performance then Intel may still be a better choice in terms of the speed you get from a single core but if you use your PC for other things, and you're looking for a more versatile machine I think this is the better chip given the higher core/thread count. It may well age better if multi-core finally takes off for gaming. The only downside to this CPU currently is that it doesn't ship with a stock cooler, unlike the other Ryzen CPUs. That means you'll need to pick up a third-party cooling option and there isn't a huge variety to choose from at the moment, given the completely novel mounting bracket. That detracts from the value of the package somewhat, making the straight R5 1600 with the Wraith cooler possibly more attractive if you don't want the fuss. On the other hand, the 1600X is probably a better binned CPU, so you pay your money and takes your choice, I suppose. I certainly have no complaints here.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No cooler? The CPU itself was in perfect shape and quality but please please please indicate expressly on the product page that this CPU does NOT come with a cooler. Caused me a lot of headache.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMD back in the game! I bought this processor to use in my first new pc build after 10yrs. It is for a CAD workstation comprising of Asus Prime X370-Pro, 16GB of Corsair Vengence DDR4 3000 RAM, Samsung 256GB PM961, NVMe SSD, Seagate Baracuda 2TB HD , AMD Firepro W4100 graphics card and Corsair H60 AIO watercoooling. The performance is really amazing and to be honest it is not really worth overclocking because it does it automatically depending on the workload. The RAM runs at 2100 Mhz and whilst I could clock this higher, i'll wait for later bios revisions. For a total cost of under £1000 I have a workstation class machine that boots in 10 secs and crushes the equivalent Intel part for performance and value for money. Can't say more than that!
