500W Corsair Builder CX500, 80 PLUS Bronze, Fully Wired, SLI/CrossFire, Single Rail, 38A +12V, 1x120mm Fan, ATX PSU is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is replacement, so it's a case of wait and see. This item's predecessor simply failed (blinking green light on motherboard and nothing would power up at all). Once installed it worked straight away, and the installation was easy. Without knowing why the older one failed I cannot know whether there is a generic risk with this item or whether it was just a one-off failure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practically Plug-and-Play After excavating my old PSU from the ancient ruin that is my Desktop tower, I was able to install the new 500W Corsair PSU with ease, and was back to playing my favourite games in no more than 10 minutes since the thing arrived in the post. As someone new to self-building, I was able to plug it in no problem and had no more crashes after that. Marvellous!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! There is nothing BAD I can say about this. the cable sleeving is strong and good looking. there are enough PCIE 8-pin power connectors to power 1 High end GPU or maybe 2 Mid-range ones. There are a lot of cables and are hard to hide but is much better that any other Power supply's at this price point

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Value for money is incredible. This originally was a product that I was going to replace as soon as i got my system put together and running, it was going to be a spare if i ever needed it, but I am very impressed, it has exceed all of my expectations and I am incredibly impressed with this item! and I am now keeping it. However if i was to upgrade my GPU or my CPU or Motherboard, then I would upgrade this too! but not to take away from the impressiveness of this item, I am very pleased with it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A decent budget PSU PSU is good, but a few too many cables. With 500W I'm not sure you could ever use all of the power cables it comes with, so it's a bit messy. Maybe buy the modular version instead.

Questions & Answers

What are these power connectors used for

I am comparing different PSU's at Scan, what are these used for 2 x 6pin PCI-E Power 1 x 4pin ATX 12V 4 x 4pin Molex 1 x 8pin CPU +12V Do I really need 2 x 6pin PCI-E and what is the name of Power connector used on Graphics cards?
Asked by: Zappos
The 2x6pin PCI-E are used for the GUP's but you do only need one, unless you are having 2 GPU's installed (that would be overkill) The 4pin I do not use. and the q 8pin splits into two 4pins for the CPU (or alternatively stays as 8pin for the CPU

what accessories go with this?

Does it have a main plug and lead, and to confirm is it 15cm deep.
Asked by: Mario
Yes to both of these, the Power cord is also long enough for most places, I can't remember just how long but it suits my spacous room perfectly!

I've bought a Asus H81I-PLUS s1150 mother board that has a socket marked ATX12volt on it

The description of the M/board says it uses a standard ATX PSU so I also bought the Corsair 500 CP-9020047 but this has no 4 pin ATX plug. Do I need one for the ASUS board?
