Product Overview Ultra Wide Quad HD Monitor supporting AMD Free-sync!!!

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/monitors/82189-acer-xg270hu-freesync-monitor/

Acer XG monitors deliver powerful visuals on a frameless screen to free your gaming and movie experiences from visual borders. WQHD resolution combines with high refresh rates and short response times for ultra-smooth action. These monitors also support FreeSync technology, for tear-free and stutter-free gaming. Plus, built-in eye protection and ergonomics keep things comfortable.

AMD are pleased to announce that a compatible AMD Catalyst™ graphics driver to enable AMD FreeSync™ technology for single-GPU configurations will be publicly available on AMD.com starting March 19, 2015. Features Unrestrained brilliance
The high resolution of this monitor (WQHD, 2560 x 1440 pixels) combines with a rapid refresh rate of 144Hz and a blazingly fast response time of 1ms to deliver ultra-smooth action sequences in great detail. This is also the world’s first frameless gaming monitor, so all that action is free to go where your mind goes.

High-speed connections
As a high-end gaming monitor, the XG is designed to handle high rates of data transfer. To get all that data to the monitor quickly and smoothly requires high-bandwidth data cables. That’s why these monitors come with high-bandwidth connection ports like HDMI® 2.0, DVI (Dual Link), and DisplayPort.

Great eye protection
These monitors help to reduce eye strain with Flicker-less, low-dimming (dim to only 10% of brightness in dark environments), anti-glare, and blue-light filtering technologies. Flicker-less technology reduces strain-causing screen flickering, while the blue-light filter lets you filter out harmful blue light. Acer ComfyView™ technology cuts screen glare to further reduce eye strain.

FreeSync eliminates “tearing”
This monitor’s DisplayPort port supports DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync. That means this monitor can work with a FreeSync-supporting graphics card and driver software to eliminate screen tearing, while minimising lag and latency. With FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and delivers very smooth gaming experiences.

Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

27" Acer XG270HU Ultra Wide 2K 144Hz Monitor 2560x1440, 1ms, 350cd/m², 100M:1, Speakers, Black/Red, DP/HDMI/DVI is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent apart from the lack of Vesa Holes, definately best value for a 27" freesync 1440p and 144hz I was looking for a 27" freesync monitor for a long time and was originally planning on getting the more expensive Asus MG278Q as I wanted 1440p and 144hz and this ticked all the boxes. However this acer came up and although it might not have all the bells and whistles of the Asus I must say I cannot fault the monitor for its panel quality. The colour reproduction is excellent for a TN panel, the freesync works perfectly from 40-144hz. I was worried about hitting that 40 fps in AAA games with my 290x but I have to say it rarely drops below this and even when this does happen I see no stuttering at all. In short I love this panel and the 1440p resolution makes everything so much nicer. Compared to the Asus the only few drawbacks are the colour of the bottom of the frame (burnt orange, would prefer it to be black), the lack of some of the Asus's additional features such as in built frame counter, fps game target etc, and the lack of vesa mounting holes. The lack of vesa mounting holes is the only reason I did not give the product 5 Stars. I fixed the issue with the vesa mounting by simply buying a bracket from a 3rd party (see picture). It might not be as polished or feature packed as the Asus but the panel itself is awesome and even with the added expense of a vesa bracket I think this monitor is a much better bang for your buck.

Questions & Answers

Is this monitor vesa compatible?

Asked by: Derf111
Hello, As standard this doesn't support a VESA mount but you can purchase an additional attachment (sold separately) in order to make it compatible with a 75 mm x 75 mm or 100 mm x 100 mm VESA. Regards,
