Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

NVIDIA G-Sync
NVIDIA G-Sync
Date Issued: 17th Dec 2013

G-SYNC works in a surprisingly simple way - it calculates how long the present frame takes to compute and then, crucially, varies the refresh rate of the monitor to match. It works between a minimum of 33.3ms (30fps) and the maximum supported refresh of the display. The key takeaway here is that the graphics card and monitor are both synced up to one another - the monitor doesn't have the limitations imposed by a rigid, fixed-rate scanning routine.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great picture from a very smart looking monitor The monitor is easy to assemble and looks very smart when finished.. However it did not work when first connected to my computer. AOC had supplied the WRONG DVI cable. It was a Single Link type instead of a Dual Link as specified in the manual. Once this problem was sorted, every thing was fine. The picture is excellent . Only a small adjustment reducing the 'brilliance' was necessary as it was a little over bright for me. There are plenty of easy to use 'on screen' controls for anyone wishing to customise the settings to suit their own particular requirements. Delivery from Scan Computers was very prompt and I am very pleased with their service. 11 October 2015

Why is this monitor classed as mid range?

It seems to be of a similar specification to other high end monitors, for example the Dell U2515H (LN62321). Just wondering why this is classed as mid-range, maybe a quirk of your grading system? Or is there a factor I've missed (apart from the price)?

Answer:
Hello,

The specifications are almost identical, the only difference would be the IPS panel that they use. In either case, this is likely just an oversight on the classes.
