C-Type top-flow design The c-type top-flow design of the NH-C14S not only allows for superb quiet cooling performance while maintaining a much lower profile than today's 140mm tower-style coolers but also ensures excellent airflow over RAM modules and near-socket motherboard components.
Low Profile Mode Run with the NF-A14 fan installed underneath the fin stack, the NH-C14S stands only 115mm tall, which is much lower than tower coolers with 140mm or 120mm fans and allows it to fit many desktop style or HTPC cases.
High Clearance Mode Run with the NF-A14 fan installed on top, the NH-C14S provides extended clearance underneath the fin stack. This way, it is fully compatible with chipset coolers and RAM modules with heat-spreaders of up to 70mm height.
Offset design for PCIe clearance Compared to the original NH-C14, the layout of the NH-C14S has been offset in two axis. Thanks to this measure, the heatsink will clear the top PCIe slot on most micro-ATX and ATX motherboards when the bendings of the heatpipes face the PCIe slots or the I/O panel.

Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe)

The purpose of this TekSpek is to delineate the publicly known features of Intel’s next generation desktop microarchitecture. Codenamed Conroe and officially titled Intel Core 2 Duo, it’s loosely based on the current mobile Yonah (Core Duo) underpinnings.
This TekSpek explains what AMD’s AMD64 CPU instruction set architecture (ISA) is, shows what CPUs implement it from both AMD and Intel, and explains what software is available to run on those 64-bit consumer processors.
The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.
There’s been a lot of hype about Intel’s Core 2 recently, even since they launched Core in fact. Words like Conroe, Badaxe and Allendale have been flying around. The bottom line is that Core 2 is the name of Intel’s latest line of CPUs, based on a new micro-architecture, designed for speed and efficiency.
Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

I liked this cooler very much, but it only performs well under certain environments. The cooler only works well when put in a system where the case exhaust runs parallel to the fans on the C14S. If intake and exhaust run perpendicularly to it, it can make temperatures significantly worse due to bad internal air turbulence.
The one I got also came with some manufacturing defects, like bent heatsink fins.
Although I am returning mine, I would still recommend the product for what it is.

Easy to install after unscrewing motherboard from case. Much quieter than stock fan and knocks a good 10 degrees off operating temperature in comparison. It has no trouble keeping my overclocked Intel 4790k cpu cool and the down blowing fan keeps the RAM and other components cool.
