Product Overview

EK-Quantum Phase 120 D-RGB Fan - Black

EK-Quantum Phase 120 D-RGB - Black is EK's most refined 120mm radiator fan engineered specifically for high-performance liquid-cooling systems. Developed through close collaboration with industry-leading fan engineers, injection-moulding specialists, and EK's liquid-cooling experts, Phase represents EK's most advanced fan design to date.

Using extensive CFD simulations, every aspect of the blade and hub geometry was optimized to achieve the ideal balance of static pressure, airflow efficiency, and acoustic performance. Unlike conventional fan development - where injection moulding constraints often compromise the intended geometry - Phase was designed from the outset around the realities of high-precision injection moulding. This ensures the final, mass-produced fan remains true to its engineered design, without introducing imbalance, excess noise, or performance loss.

The result is a fan purpose-built for liquid-cooling radiators, where airflow resistance is high, and performance per decibel truly matters. At the same noise level, Phase delivers higher cooling performance; at the same cooling performance, it operates noticeably quieter. This makes it an ideal choice for premium custom loops, high-density radiators, and acoustically optimized systems.

Performance & Acoustics

In noise-normalized testing, the EK-Quantum Phase 120 demonstrates clear advantages over EK's FPT fans, these gains are achieved through a geometry optimized for higher static pressure at lower RPM, allowing Phase to maintain strong cooling performance across a wide operating range. When matched for thermal performance, Phase can operate at up to 2.7 dBA lower noise than the FPT fan - resulting in a noticeably quieter system without sacrificing cooling capability.

Engineered Reliability

The fan uses a Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) rated for 70,000 hours MTBF, ensuring long-term stability, low mechanical noise, and consistent performance over time. PWM control from 550 to 2200 RPM allows precise tuning for silent operation or maximum cooling, depending on system demands.

Premium Aesthetics & D-RGB Illumination

Beyond performance, EK-Quantum Phase 120 sets a new standard in refinement and visual appeal. It features 9 addressable D-RGB LEDs for smooth, vivid lighting effects compatible with all major motherboard RGB ecosystems via a standard 3-pin 5V D-RGB connection.

Replaceable rubber corner dampers reduce vibration transfer while allowing subtle visual customization, and a precision aluminium badge on both sides ensures a premium appearance in both push and pull configurations. The clean black finish makes Phase an ideal match for modern, showcase-grade liquid-cooled builds.

EK-OmniLink

EK-OmniLink - allows daisy chaining of multiple fans, thus reducing cable clutter and greatly easing cable management. The Omni-Link ecosystem of interconnects will be greatly expanded in the near future, allowing additional benefits to users. It uses Micro-fit 8-pin connectors between products.

The EK-OmniLink design resolves the cable clutter issues of unifying the connection of multiple fans onto a single PWM and D-RGB header while still maintaining full flexibility if the user wants to remove a single fan from the chain. Other similar solutions on the market use interlocking mechanisms, which require the removal of the entire fan link if the user needs more room to tighten a fitting on a radiator.

PLEASE NOTE:

• For best results, EK recommends using the CPU_FAN header as the PWM signal source for controlling the fan.
• The installed D-RGB LEDs are compatible with every major motherboard manufacturer and mainstream D-RGB controller via the 3-pin header.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.
