Category A2 UAS

Category A2 drones are designed for flying near people, offering more capability and payload than ultra-light A1 models while still operating in the UK CAA’s “Open” category under the new UK Class Mark system from 2026. These aircraft require an A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) alongside the usual Operator ID and Flyer ID. Ideal for experienced hobbyists and professional creators who need higher-performance camera drones but still want to stay within simplified, standard permissions, rather than moving into the Specific category.
