It comes with 8 input channels, including 4 XLR inputs, 2 XLR/TRS inputs. The high-end microphone preamps result in a crystal-clear recording in any setting.
One of the most unique features of the H8 is the XY mic design and the interchangeable capsule system. This allows you to change to different microphones and add extra inputs with more options to help you get your desired result.
The 24-bit/96kHz audio resolution allows listeners to hear every detail of the recording and the Zoom H8 can do this with up to 12 tracks. The H8 can also be connected straight to a DAW and used as an audio interface. As an ideal tool for podcasters, musicians and sound effects creators, the Zoom H8 could be all you need.

Flexible Input Configurations
Greater FunctionalityThanks to Zoom’s Capsule System 2.0 the H8 Handy Recorder comes with more flexibility and functionality than ever as it includes features you won’t find your usual handy recorder.
Included in the H8 is the XYH-6 mic capsule with identical unidirectional mics as an XY set up. You do have the option to change to other microphone options and an expander capsule, which are all from Zoom if you wish.
The compatible H8 capsule options are the XAH-8 XY/AB mic, VRH-8 ambisonic mic. the EXH-8 expander capsule gives you four extra XLR inputs. The H8 is backwards compatible, meaning if you are the owner of a Zoom H6 with multiple capsule options, they will all work on the H8.

The Best Recording AssistantThe Zoom H8 Handy Recorder was built to make your life easy. It includes recording modes to make your recording experience stress free such as; pre-record, backup-record and auto-record. Perfect features to have when field recording.
When using the pre-record option the H8 buffers the last 2 seconds of recorded audio and adds it to each take, meaning that if you start recording slightly late it will more likely have picked up the sound.
The backup-record option records an entirely different stereo mix at a lower volume to give you a separate copy of your recording if an unexpected issue happens. Auto-record will begin the recording when the volume reaches a certain level, incase you miss some of the action, the H8 will pick it up for you.
Works As A USB Interface
MULTITRACK RECORDINGAs well as being a fantastic recording tool, the H8 also works as a USB audio interface which is perfect for being used to capture live streaming, conferencing or any other interface uses.
If used this way the H8 changes all the inputs into a stereo signal. When you’re recording a band or a live performance the multitrack is perfect for this as it can send up to 12 channels directly to your DAW where you can edit the recordings easily.

EXPAND YOUR RECORDER WITH UP TO 4 XLR INPUTS
Released alongside Zoom’s Capsule System 2.0, the EXH-8 is a 4-channel XLR input capsule designed to work in perfect tandem with Zoom’s H8 Handy Recorder. With four locking XLR 3-pin inputs, the EXH-8 adds four mic preamps to your H8 for a total of 10 mic inputs.
Each input offers a large gain dial and a -20 dB pad for easy optimization of signal levels. Use your favorite condenser microphones by connecting a power source to the EXH-8 capsule to supply them with phantom power. The EXH-8's Zoom mic capsule connection lets you quickly swap capsules on your H8 recorder without tools or tedious installation.
