world-class snare soundA new addition of the metal snare lineup to the Recording Custom series showcases the addition of Yamaha’s finest snare drums, using Steve’s valuable input to its full potential, resulting in superb consistency, allowing drummers to fully utilize the sound functionality of the kit. This snare drum features 20 strand snare wire and Steve Gadd signature 10 strand snare wire together, the same snare wire that Steve prefers to use - a 14 strand snare wire with the middle four strands removed. This special snare wire enhances the cutoff of the sound, allowing the player to produce a crisper staccato tone.

Groundbreaking Design
Center BeadAfter continuous evaluations of the design by Steve Gadd, Yamaha have created a groundbreaking snare drum. To date, Yamaha’s snare drums traditionally have the metal center bead on the interior of the drum.
However, they have fixed the center bead to the outside of this drum to produces a more open sound than their conventional drums, for crisp, articulate performance.
