featuring Motion Control for expressive sound-shaping possibilitiesThe MONTAGE M6 is Yamaha's flagship 61-key synthesizer, bringing three distinct synthesis engines together in a single instrument. With AWM2, FM-X and the new AN-X analogue modelling engine under the control of Yamaha's Motion Control system, the MONTAGE M6 covers everything from detailed acoustic sounds and classic FM tones to proper analogue-style synthesis and complex layered patches. The 61-key FSX keyboard features both initial touch and channel aftertouch, giving you plenty of expressive control when playing synths, pianos, strings and more. At the centre of the instrument is a 7" colour touchscreen, alongside eight assignable knobs, eight control sliders, the Super Knob, ribbon controller and other hands-on controls for shaping sounds in real time.

AN-X is the major addition to the MONTAGE M generation, providing three oscillators, noise generation, dual filters, pulse-width modulation, oscillator sync, ring modulation, FM and waveshaping. For more traditional Yamaha territory, AWM2 provides up to 256-note polyphony, while FM-X offers eight operators, 88 algorithms and up to 128-note polyphony. Across the three engines, the MONTAGE M6 can deliver up to 400 notes of total polyphony.

Motion Control ties the different sound engines together and gives you a much deeper level of performance control than simply switching between presets. The Super Knob can manipulate multiple parameters simultaneously, while Motion Sequencing allows rhythmic or evolving parameter changes to become part of the sound itself. There's plenty here for studio work too. The MONTAGE M6 provides balanced main and assignable outputs, A/D inputs, MIDI I/O and USB connectivity, with the USB connection also providing a multichannel audio interface capable of 32 outputs and six inputs. That makes it possible to integrate the MONTAGE M directly into a DAW-based setup for MIDI recording, multi-channel audio and software instrument monitoring without needing a separate interface for every task.

With 3.7GB of user flash memory, around 11.29GB of preset waveform memory and support for 16 internal Parts, the MONTAGE M6 is built for considerably more than preset playback. It's a serious performance and sound-design instrument for players who want a broad palette of synthesis, deep hands-on control and the connectivity to make it the centre of a modern studio or live rig.

EXPANDED SOFTSYNTH PLUGIN (ESP)A game-changer for musicians, the Expanded Softsynth Plugin (ESP) replicates the MONTAGE M in your favorite Digital Workstation (DAW). Free for all registered MONTAGE M owners, ESP allows you to create, edit and mix MONTAGE M Performances anywhere you happen to be – without the hardware – offering an unprecedented level of stage and studio integration. The first version will have all the MONTAGE M sound while being limited to basic editing. The full version will be available in Summer 2024.

FASTER, MORE INTUITIVE NAVIGATIONUpgraded navigation enables quick, intuitive sound editing and operation. You’ll find features like a new 512 x 64 LCD screen, 6 touchscreen display knobs, and a PAGE JUMP button that moves what’s in the LCD screen over to the larger 7” TFT Color touchscreen for deeper editing. And the dedicated Navigation button shows an overview of a Performance. Just touch a graphical object in the screen to jump to that parameter for deeper editing. The dedicated Navigation button allows you go directly from the “surface” of a sound to the deepest part.
