featuring totally new audio engineThe DTX6K-X defines the new mid-range of the Yamaha E-Drums range, and promises professional sounds and features for players on a budget, but offering a massive technological step forward. It combines Yamaha's world class acoustic drum history with the newest in digital drumming, sampling, and music technology. The DTXPRO sound module offers totally new audio quality with new samples recorded in some of the best studios in Europe.

The sounds can be treated with a host of studio effects, so users can tailor the sound of their kits to their exact needs. Users can also load up to 1000 of their own samples, in addition to the 400+ internal sounds. Unique to the DTXPRO modules are the Kit Modifier Knobs which allow the user to instantly change the sound of the kit by adjusting real sampled room ambience (not just digital reverb), kit compression, and other effects in real time. Every channel also has EQ, and Transient Adjustment which is usually found in studio software and allows you to change the attack and decay of the sound to suit your needs.

your sound - how you want itAt the centre of any electronic drum kit is the sound module, and the Yamaha DTX-PRO is packed with sounds and features to help you get the kit sounding exactly how you want it. With 712 sounds to choose from and 40 ready-to-play preset kits, you can get straight into playing. If you want to build your own sounds, there’s also room for up to 200 user kits, so your favourite custom set-ups can be saved and recalled whenever you need them.

The sounds themselves have been recorded in professional studios in high resolution, with plenty of attention paid to the attack and release of each drum and cymbal. The result is a natural, responsive sound that feels much closer to playing an acoustic kit. Of course, with acoustic drums, the room they’re played in has a huge impact on the overall sound. The DTX-PRO takes this into account with three handy modifier controls, giving you quick access to ambience, compression and effects without having to dive through complicated menus.

Ambience Modifier: The Ambience Modifier lets you change the environment your chosen pad sounds in. It works by adding sampled room sounds to the drum sound, giving you control over the amount of ambience and helping to shape the reverb, attack and decay. It’s a quick way to give your kit everything from a tight, dry feel to a much bigger, more spacious sound.

Comp Modifier: The Comp Modifier applies compression across the whole kit, helping the different parts of the kit sit together more naturally in the mix. Keep it subtle for a more balanced sound, or push it harder for a punchier, more aggressive character.

Effect Modifier: The Effect Modifier controls the sends and returns from the DTX-PRO’s two built-in effects processors. This lets you decide which pads are routed to each processor, giving you plenty of flexibility when it comes to adding and shaping effects across the kit.
