The Unitree R1 EDU Pro D Humanoid is an advanced, modular bipedal robot crafted for deep learning, research, and educational innovation, offering enhanced features for developers and AI professionals. Retaining a compact and lightweight frame (~25 kg, 1.23 m tall), the R1 EDU Pro D stands out with its increased capabilities and open development environment.

By default, the R1 EDU is powered by a 8-core high-performance CPU for smooth, responsive operation. For users requiring GPU-accelerated AI computations, the Pro D comes shipped with a 100 TOPS NVIDIA Jetson Orin AI module. This enables real-time multimodal AI processing for vision, language, and sensor fusion — ideal for advanced robotics research capable of reaching up to 40 TOPS.

Its stereo binocular cameras, depth sensors, and four microphone array provide sharp environmental awareness, speech recognition, and complex audio/visual processing. The base model features 24 degrees of freedom 6 per leg, 5 per arm and 2 in the waist enabling fluid, expressive human like movements, from dynamic locomotion to nuanced head articulation. Precise, low inertia motors with advanced encoders underpin smooth, controlled, and powerful performance.

For manipulation and HRI tasks, the R1 has upgradeable end effector modules, with the EDU Pro B variant shipping with a pair of BrainCo Revo 2 Touch six-finger dexterous hands , expanding its interactive and object‑handling capabilities. Developers using EDU variants have access to an open SDK and ROS 2 interfaces for full secondary development, firmware modifications, and direct hardware integration.
