21 Degrees of Freedom for Dexterous Manipulation
The BrainCo Revo 3 (U21T) is a five-finger bionic robotic hand developed for industrial automation, research and robotic manipulation. It features 21 fully active degrees of freedom, each driven by an independent motor, allowing coordinated finger movement, thumb opposition, abduction and adduction, and a wide range of grasp configurations. Each finger segment is independently controllable and backdrivable.
Finger Movement and Joint Control
The Revo 3 features five degrees of freedom in the thumb and four in each of the index, middle, ring and little fingers. The thumb supports CMC abduction and adduction, rotation for opposition, and flexion and extension across its joints. The other four fingers support lateral movement and independent MCP, PIP and DIP flexion and extension, enabling versatile manipulation of objects with different shapes and sizes.
Full-Palm Tactile Sensing
The Revo 3 U21T tactile version features a full-palm piezoresistive tactile array, with 451 taxels providing detailed contact and pressure-distribution data. This tactile feedback supports interaction with fragile, flexible and irregular objects, making it valuable for applications that require more than position-based gripping alone.
Communication and Software Development
The Revo 3 supports RS-485, CAN FD and EtherCAT communication interfaces. C/C++ and Python SDKs, alongside ROS support and integration examples, help developers build robotic applications, implement control algorithms and verify manipulation strategies across Linux and Windows environments.
Reliability and Environmental Validation
The hand's core joints are rated for 1,000,000 flex cycles. Validation includes drop, vibration, load, temperature and salt-spray testing, supporting development for demanding robotic applications.
Included Accessories
The Revo 3 package includes the dexterous hand, a debugging box, a USB Type-C data cable with two straight connectors, a wrist power cable, a single-ended EtherCAT communication cable, a 24V / 10A power adapter, a robot integration cable, an EtherCAT communication cable and an RS-485 / CAN FD communication cable.
Please Note: This is a left hand variant with dedicated mounting for the H2 humanoid only.
