The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.

PreSonus AudioBox USB® 96, 2x2 USB Audio Interface for Musician, Producer, Podcasters, Mac, Windows PC Compatible is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly versatile, but small fingers help This is versatile for recording with a second microphone channel which will take a guitar or line feed with volume down). The DIN Midi ports at the back save a lot of cable length, and playback quality seems good. I compared 96kHz and 48kHz recording from a Rode microphone on a spectrum analyser and saw similar artefacts above 20kHz on each, and could not hear the difference. Distant blackbirds in the garden recorded faithfully though at both settings. Only niggles are on ergonomics - the channel 1 and 2 input gain controls seem laid out the wrong way round, knobs are too close together and feel cheap, and the headphone socket is round the back risking cable strain or pulling the interface off your desk. On the positive side the metal box seems very solid and the interface worked well and showed up quickly on my DAW, FL Studio. If you have fairly thin fingers, recommended and great value.
