Super-Modulated Delay inspired by cascaded rack gear
Introducing the mesmerising ‘Polymoon’ from Meris. Taking inspiration from the practice of daisy-chaining rack mounted delays to create whole new sounds, a practice popularised in the 1980’s by luminaries such as Frank Zappa and Allan Holdsworth.
Prior to the arrival of the Polymoon, the idea of chaining together multiple high-end stereo effects and algorithms was confined to using rack gear, extremely pricey multi-effects or a series of high-end pedals. The Polymoon has broken this trend and it is the most bold attempt yet at such a sprawling and complex Delay unit in pedal form.
Communicate with your Dream State
Meris have become known and respected for treating each pedal in their range as an individual instrument in itself, each pedal having its own deep and rewarding set of parameters. Meris pedals encourage user experimentation and the user is repaid for their time invested with sounds so unique and stunning, it’s simply impossible not to be impressed.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Polymoon is it’s 6 parameter controls, ‘Time’, ‘Feedback’, ‘Mix’, ‘Multiply’, ‘Dimension’ and ‘Dynamics’. But, as with Meris, so much more lies under the hood of this incredible device.
The Darkside of the Moon ‘Multiply’ is an incredibly versatile control which contains an array of level and panning options for the delay. ‘Dimension’ lets you keep the delay nice and tight and adds glorious sustain as you increase the parameter. ‘Dynamics’ increases the depth and intensity of the onboard flanger. The ‘Alt’ button is the real secret weapon here. Holding this down unleashes a whole new side to this pedal and really will open the creative floodgates. Shape early and late states of modulation with multiple shape waveforms by adjusting the ‘Time’, ‘Multiply’ and ‘Dynamics’, whilst ‘Feedback’ and ‘Dimension’ adjust the envelope and filters.
Advanced Connection Options Meris are leaders in pedal design. One of the things they excel at is the incorporation of MIDI, and how this can be utilised in the control of pedals and getting the most from them. Take advantage of 16 MIDI presets and experiment in implementing these into your music. Use accurate tap tempo with the MIDI beat clock synchronisation and choose either quarter or dotted eighth notes whilst holding down the tap tempo footswitch. Polymoon has stereo I/O’s for stunning panning effects, which make for fantastic use with PA systems, when using more than one cab or even with synths. There’s even a selectable switch to use when using either guitar or synths to ensure line level is kept optimally.
Controlling the Hedra
Time
Sets the time for the delay and the synchronized phaser.
Alt Function: Early Modulation - Triangle waveform modulation of the early delay taps. Ranges from gentle modulation, to FM, to pitch effects.
Feedback
Sets the feedback amount.
Alt Function: Feedback Filter - Controls filter in the feedback path. Set to noon for no filtering, set towards minimum for a darker filter, set towards maximum for a brighter filter.
Mix
Adjusts the balance between Dry and Wet signals.
Alt Function: Delay Level - Sets the gain of the Wet signal. Ranges from 0dB to -12dB. For auto-scaling, set to min.
Mix
Multiply
Sets the number of delay taps added to the output.
Alt Function: Late Modulation - Triangle waveform modulation of the later delay taps. Ranges from gentle modulation, to FM, to pitch effects.
Mix
Dimension
Sets the dimension amount. Dimension smears and sustains the delay tap reflections.
Alt Function: Dynamic Flanger Mode - Set to minimum for Envelope Down, set to noon for Envelope Up, and set to maximum for LFO.
Mix
Dynamics
Sets the intensity/depth of the Dynamic Flanger. Flanger is off at minimum.
Alt Function: Dynamic Flanger Sound - Sets the envelope attack time or LFO speed based on the Dynamic Flanger Mode.
Mix
Select phase
Slow: - Stereo Barberpole phaser with fixed speed of 0.1 Hz.
Sync: - Stereo Barberpole phaser with speed linked to a quarter note of the delay time.
Slow + Sync: - Stereo Barberpole phaser with speed linked to a whole note of the delay time.
Mix
Tap
Sets the time for the delay and the synchronized phaser.
Alt Function: Dotted Eighth Note - Changes current tempo from 1/4 notes to dotted 1/8 notes
Hold Tap: to engage Half Speed Delay.
