Noctua's latest coolers feature their classic U-series single tower CPU coolers which have received more than 400 awards and recommendations from the international press. The S-version's 45mm slim shape guarantees 100% compatibility with tall RAM modules and at the same time, its fine-tuned design and the class-leading fans with PWM support provide fully automatic speed control allowing it to further improve its predecessor's renowned quiet cooling performance. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, Noctua's proven NT-H1 thermal compound and a six years manufacturer's warranty, these slim tower coolers are a complete premium quality solution that combines outstanding performance, quiet operation and excellent compatibility. FeaturesAward-winning tower series The NH-U12S and U14S are the latest version of Noctua's award-winning NH-U12 coolers. First introduced in 2005, the NH-U series has become a standard choice for premium quality quiet CPU coolers and has won more than 400 awards and recommendations from leading international hardware websites and magazines.
100% RAM compatibility Thanks to its slim design with only 45mm fin depth, the coolers will not overhang the RAM slots even with two fans installed. This gives the user full access to the memory modules on all current CPU sockets and guarantees 100% compatibility with tall heatspreaders or optional memory fans.
Classic 120mm tower size for excellent overall compatibility Standing 158mm tall (U12S) and 165mm tall (U14S) the coolers are short enough to fit most modern mid-end or high-end tower cases. Measuring 125mm wide (including fan and fan clips), the coolers stay clear of the top PCIe slot on standard ATX or Micro-ATX motherboards, ensuring best compatibility with SLI and CrossFire setups.
Premium quality fans Recommended by more than 150 hardware publications and thousands of enthusiasts world-wide, the Noctua’s premium quality fans are renowned to combine superb static pressure, excellent heatsink performance and surprising quietness of operation. The NH-U12S is supplied with the NF-F12 Focused Flow fan while the NH-U14S has the NF-A15 fan.
PWM support and Low-Noise Adaptor Both fans supplied with the coolers support PWM for convenient automatic speed control through the mainboard. In addition, the maximum fan speed can be reduced using the supplied Low-Noise Adaptor for even quieter operation.
SecuFirm2 mounting system Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156), LGA2011 and AMD (AM3+, AM2+, FM1, FM2), the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the coolers guarantees perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.
6 years warranty Noctua products are renowned for their impeccable quality and outstanding longevity. Like all Noctua fans, the supplied NF-F12 and NF-A15 feature an MTBF rating of more than 150,000 hours and the entire package comes with a full six years manufacturer's warranty.

Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe)
Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008
The purpose of this TekSpek is to delineate the publicly known features of Intel’s next generation desktop microarchitecture. Codenamed Conroe and officially titled Intel Core 2 Duo, it’s loosely based on the current mobile Yonah (Core Duo) underpinnings.
This TekSpek explains what AMD’s AMD64 CPU instruction set architecture (ISA) is, shows what CPUs implement it from both AMD and Intel, and explains what software is available to run on those 64-bit consumer processors.
The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.
There’s been a lot of hype about Intel’s Core 2 recently, even since they launched Core in fact. Words like Conroe, Badaxe and Allendale have been flying around. The bottom line is that Core 2 is the name of Intel’s latest line of CPUs, based on a new micro-architecture, designed for speed and efficiency.
Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

Excellent quality and provides pretty good coolingThis is a well made, sturdy cooler, that will far exceed what any stock cooler could offer you. Noctua do a fairly odd colour scheme, but their products are extremely well made, and keep my i7 6700k nice and cool (4.2ghz OC'd).
I've hit the 60's under load doing tasks like video editing/rendering and playing CPU intensive games like Arma. For the most part however, it hovers at around 40-50 degrees C in most usage scenarios, and at 28-33 in idle.
Overall, very very impressed in what an air cooler like this can do.
One tip though, be careful when working inside the case as it is very easy to brush the heatsink radiator and bend some of the fins as they are very delicate. Just keep that in mind whilst building!

Amazing CoolerThis cooler is incredible.
With my i7 4790k @ 4.7GHz with 1.301 volts it stays around 80°c in AIDA64.
The quality of the cooler is also great, with very thick and strong mounting mechanisms and a completly unblemished array of heat fins.
The fan stays completely silent on the desktop and is almost inaudible in games, even in AIDA64 it is quiet, and I'm not using the low noise adapter.
The cooler does not interfear with my RAM and I have every slot filled with G.Skill RipjawsX.
The one tiny complaint I have is that is is advertised as being "smaller". Smaller than what? A house?

Excellent productCame in a massive box, took a bit of time installing but got there in the end. It's very silent and still keeps it cool, even at full speed it's very quite.

Excellent productThe heat sink on this is large. Fits in most full towers but if you have a midi it's unlikely to fit. It's also pig ugly. That being said the heat sink sucks the heat out of a CPU almost as efficiently as water cooling. The fan that comes with it is basically silent. In short, it's ugly but it's an amazing cooler.

Good cooling with very little noiseOnly slight annoyance is that it is so large that the fan must be fitted in exactly the correct place to get the cabinet side on.
