Achieve Iconic Rotary Speaker Sounds with
Neo Instrument's 'Micro Vent 16'

Works fantastically well across Guitar, bass and keyboardsAt long last, Neo Instruments decide it was time to condense their celebrated ‘Ventilator’ rotary speaker simulation technology into a pedal-board friendly, compact stompbox. Whilst the physical size may have reduced, the sound which emanates from this beauty has certainly not suffered.
The Micro Vent 16 packs super-powerful DSP technology, in the same manner as the Ventilator II and mini Vent II. Neo Instruments also designed a brand new circuit – ‘analogue blend’ – which opens up the door for zero-latency parallel processing from the wet and dry signals.
The Micro Vent 16 packs authentic rotary-cab sounds into a modern, rugged housing, which has raised the bar for rotary emulation effects units.

Timeless Sounds in a Box

Iconic, Classic TonesNeo’s Micro Vent 16 authentically recreates the iconic guitar leslie with a 10” speaker into a single drum rotor, more specifically, the ‘Fender Vibratone’.
The Micro Vent 16's intelligent algorithm recreates capturing the Vibratone with a single microphone and the distance from the cabinet is widely adjustable. In comparison to the Micro Vent 122, the Micro Vent 16 has a much less complex tone and could be said to sound more ‘dominant’. It’s ideal for adding that extra sparkle and touch to your rhythm work and for adding that extra flourish to your leads.
Dual Modes via the 'Bypass' Switch

select between two speedsYou could be forgiven for thinking the ‘BYPASS’ switch on the Micro Vent, is nothing more than just that, a simple bypass switch you’ve seen on every stompbox before. However, upon closer inspection you’ll notice it has a second function, the bypass switch also doubles up as a way of selecting between two speeds.
Various different modes determine if the switching is done momentarily or latching. It’s also possible to utilise the bypass switch to select speeds exclusively, leaving the effect on all the time. This is perfect for when the unit is used in tandem with switching loopers. Just imagine the creative possibilities here…
Analogue 'Blend'

achieve the sound of your heroesThe Rotary effect has arguably been put to best use by icons such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and David Gilmour, to name but two. The method as to how they got that classic sound on their iconic records was via one simple trick: by blending the rotary speaker and guitar amp signals together.
To attain a similar effect with only one amp, the Micro Vent features an analogue ‘Blend’ circuit, providing an uncoloured and latency free mixing-in of the original dry signal, which achieves that classic rotary sound we all know and love so dearly.
Understanding & Controlling the 'Micro Vent 16' from Neo
The 'Micro Vent 16' from Neo The Micro Vent 16 from Neo is a relatively simple pedal to get to grips with. Nevertheless, below, you'll find a detailed glimpse at just what the Micro Vent does and how it can be utilised to it's maximum potential.

RampRamp controls acceleration and deceleration of the rotors when changing Speeds.

SpeedSpeed adjusts the initial Speed of the micro Vent. The range is from Slow to Fast while intermediate Speeds are also possible.

Spd2(Speed 2) This toggle switch selects between the three standard Speeds Slow, Stop and Fast.

DistanceDistance controls the placing of the virtual microphones. Closer distances result in deeper amplitude modulation.

BlendBlend mixes the dry input signal with the effect signal. The dry signal always stays analog and latency free.
