KMA Audio Machines is proud to offer their take on the iconic distortion sound, made famous by the now out of production made in Japan, Boss ‘HM-2’. This sound was the foundation of the popular Swedish ‘chainsaw’ metal, spearheaded by bands such as At The Gates, Entombed and Dismember.

Iconic 'Chainsaw' Tone!
crushing saturated distortionKMA’s ‘Wurhm’ distortion pedal deliver the goods when it comes to gnarly distortion sounds. It offers the grainiest, ‘chainsaw’-like, high-gain distorted/fuzz sounds you could possibly imagine. If this pedal was around 30 years earlier, at the height of the Swedish death metal era, it’s certain that KMA’s ‘Wurhm’ would have been on every guitarists pedal board!
None of this is to say that the ‘Wurhm’ is a one-trick pony, far from it! Inspired by the discontinued Boss ‘HM-2’, the ‘Wurhm’ takes this iconic circuit design one step further. Featuring the same active EQ, this flexible set of parameters allows you to dial in your desired distortion sound with minimal effort.
Whilst a lot of distortion pedals lack effective mid controls, the ‘Wurhm’ has been kitted out with dual ‘High Mids’ and ‘Low Mids’. This enables you to introduce or cut mid-range frequencies for absolutely crushing saturated distortion, perfect for that Dimebag sound!
Iconic Swedish Death Metal Tone!
dedicated trim potsNot only do the ‘Wurhm’s highly-responsive EQ knobs allow for huge experimentation with tone, there’s even greater flexibility on offer thanks to the internal trim pots and dip switches!
Each of the ‘Wurhm’s EQ controls also has its own dedicated trim pot, this allows you to tweak the centre frequency of the bandpass; thereby affecting the bandwidth. This means that once you raise the centre frequency, the bandwidth increases. There two ‘DIP’ switches too, which will allow you to use ‘bypass’ or activate certain EQ modes.
It’s this functionality which opens up access to the HM-2 EQ mode, delivering that iconic, popular Swedish death metal sound. Or, you can choose to switch it off completely and just utilise the ‘Wurhm’ EQ. Of course, if you so wish, you can blend the two together!
