Jet JT300 Lake Placid Blue

Finished in Lake Placid Blue and fitted with a roasted maple fingerboard, it has the familiar look and feel of a classic T-style guitar, with a few modern touches in the construction. The 25.5" scale Canadian roasted maple neck uses a Modern C profile and a 9.5" radius roasted maple fingerboard. With 22 frets and a 1.65" nut width, the dimensions are familiar without feeling overly vintage, making the JT-300 easy to settle into for both rhythm playing and lead work. The double-action truss rod also gives you plenty of adjustment for keeping the neck properly set up.

The body is made from roasted poplar, paired with the roasted maple neck. It's a sensible combination for an affordable workhorse guitar, while the Placid Blue finish and roasted maple board give this particular version a more traditional look. Chrome hardware keeps the rest of the specification simple and clean. For the electronics, JET has fitted a pair of ceramic single-coil pickups in the familiar neck-and-bridge arrangement. A three-way selector, master volume and master tone keep everything deliberately uncomplicated: the bridge pickup gives you the sharper, more cutting side of the guitar, the neck position fills things out, and the middle setting gives you a useful balance of both.

The fixed bridge and chrome machine heads continue the no-nonsense approach, while the bone/polymer fibre nut specification varies with production date. The fixed bridge in particular makes the JT-300 a straightforward guitar to live with, without the extra setup considerations that come with a tremolo-equipped design. The JT-300 is ultimately a proper, uncomplicated T-style guitar at a very accessible price. The roasted maple neck, roasted maple fingerboard and ceramic single-coils give it a specification that's more interesting than the price tag suggests, while the familiar layout makes it an easy guitar to pick up and get straight to work with.
