DiMarzio pickupsThe Steve Vai Signature Premium JEM7VP delivers incredible power and voicings thanks in part to the trio of DiMarzio Evolution pickups. The neck pickup delivers a fat, warm and rich sound, whilst the bridge offers a rather sharper, more aggressive voice. Switching over to the middle single-coil sits somewhere nicely in the middle ground.
Evolution pickups aren’t soft sounding, and they're not for the inexperienced player, however — if you've got the skills and a hot amp — these things will burn hot! Evolution pickups were originally designed with live gigs in mind, but they have so much presence and definition that they're great for recording, too — these pickups slice right through even the densest of mixes.
