Originally conceived as a straightforward, affordable Gibson, the Junior has gone on to become a firm favourite with players who appreciate its direct approach: one pickup, two controls and a whole lot of attitude. This latest version brings that classic formula back in an Ebony-finished, USA-made instrument.

The slab mahogany double-cut body keeps things simple while giving you excellent access all the way up the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany neck uses Gibson's SlimTaper profile, paired with a 24.75" scale and 12" radius, giving the Junior a familiar Gibson feel without the bulk of a traditional single-cut Les Paul. There's just one pickup, but it's a good one: a Dogear P-90 in the bridge position. Its broad, punchy response works particularly well when you push an amp, but the Junior is capable of considerably more than just raw crunch. Back off the volume for cleaner sounds, roll down the tone for thicker textures, or change your picking position and you've got plenty of scope to shape the response before touching your amp.

The electronics are hand-wired with a master volume, master tone and Orange Drop capacitor, keeping the control layout as straightforward as the original concept. There's no pickup selector or complicated switching to get between you and the instrument — just plug in and play. At the other end, a wraparound bridge/tailpiece bolts directly into the body, while Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners with white buttons and a Graph Tech nut take care of tuning stability. A Gibson hardshell case is included, making the Junior ready for regular gigging as well as studio work.

The result is a Gibson for players who'd rather have one great pickup than three average ones. The Les Paul Junior Double Cut is stripped-back, responsive and properly fun to play — a no-nonsense electric that leaves plenty of room for your hands, your amp and your playing to do the talking.
