Vintage Noiseless Pickups!
'Treble Bass Expander' CircuitryIn a Fender exclusive, Eric’s signature Stratocaster features the unique Vintage Noiseless single coil pickups. These superb pickups deliver the classic stylings of a single coil pickup, bursting with authentic vintage tone, without any of the common drawbacks such as undesirable hums/noises.
To further the Clapton Stratocasters tonal palette, Fender included their ‘TBX’ (Treble Bass Expander) circuitry. This circuitry inside the tone pot adds fantastic tweaking potential to your tone. The pot features an indentation at the 5 position and acts as a traditional tone pot from 0-5. After the 5 position, this adds extra brightness and presence to your tone. A seriously cool feature!
The Clapton Stratocaster’s second tone pot acts as an active mid-boost. Turning this clockwise will boost the mids and bass frequencies, whist attenuating the treble frequencies.
Classic Slowhand Stylings!
‘soft V’ neck profilingFender chose to use Alder wood to base the classic Strat stylings of Eric Clapton’s Stratocaster, finished with a urethane finish. The decision to use a urethane finish was chosen due to its strong and durable nature whilst retaining the vividness of the colour with a superb shine, even after years of use.
Connected via a rock-solid bolt-on attachment, Fender used maple for the neck of the Clapton Strat. Featuring a ‘soft V’ neck profiling, the result is a wonderfully comfortable feel as it sits in your fretting hand. Deriving the sharpness of a ‘50s era ‘V’ profile and eventually softening into a more overall rounded shape, the neck of Clapton’s Strat is made for the guitarist with perhaps a larger hand which extend across the fingerboards edges.
The gorgeous maple fretboard sports a modern 9.5” radius which serves up a slightly flattened playing area when compared to a more traditional-style radius, all whilst still delivering enough arc to offer a natural and comfortable feel for your fretting hand.
Why Choose The Eric Clapton Stratocaster?
FENDER - Eric Clapton Stratocaster Eric Clapton is widely agreed to be one of the most important guitarists of all time, expertly blending rock and blues in his playing. Fender designed this guitar to closely replicate Eric’s specifications. Check out just some of them below!
"SOFT V"
NECK PROFILEThe "soft V" neck profile (the shape of the neck in cross section) on the Eric Clapton Stratocaster has a distinctly comfortable fretting-hand feel that takes the more pronounced sharpness of a ’50s "V" profile and "softens" it into a somewhat more rounded shape. Ideal for players with larger hands whose thumb extends over the edge of the fingerboard.
TBX TONE
CONTROLThe first tone control knob operates this guitar’s TBX (Treble Bass Expander) tone circuitry. The knob has a detent at the center position (5) and works like a normal tone control from zero to the detent. Turning the knob clockwise from the detent adds presence and brightness; turning it counterclockwise from the detent rolls off high frequencies.
ACTIVE MID
BOOSTThe second tone control knob functions as an active mid-boost control. Turning it clockwise boosts mid and bass frequencies while decreasing treble frequencies.
BLOCKED
TREMOLOThe Eric Clapton Stratocaster comes with an easily removable wood block installed between the tremolo block and tremolo cavity wall to keep it from moving, as specified by the great guitarist himself.
URETHANE
FINISHUrethane guitar body finishes are especially strong and durable, and will hold colours with great vividness, sheen and clarity for extraordinarily long periods.
9.5" FINGERBOARD
RADIUSThe fingerboard radius is an important spec that describes the amount of curvature across the width of the fingerboard. This instrument’s modern 9.5" fingerboard radius is slightly more flattened than a vintage-style radius, but still with enough arc to provide a natural and notably comfortable fretting-hand feel, and to make bending notes easier.
