An Inspired by Gibson Custom reissue of one of the most beloved vintage SG modelsEpiphone's 1964 SG™ Standard with Maestro™ Vibrola™ is a faithful tribute to one of the most celebrated SGs of all time. The original 1964 SG Standard became an instant classic in the hands of legends like George Harrison and Eric Clapton, marking a turning point in the model’s evolution. By this year, Gibson had phased out the less intuitive Sideways Vibrato in favour of the more reliable Maestro Vibrola, introduced a slightly fuller neck profile for improved comfort, and refined the SG’s balance and playability. It was also the first full year the SG proudly stood on its own, no longer carrying the Les Paul name.

Epiphone, in collaboration with Gibson™ Custom, now proudly presents the 1964 SG Standard Reissue with Maestro Vibrola — the most authentic recreation of this iconic guitar ever offered under the Epiphone name. Every classic appointment has been carefully preserved: a one-piece mahogany neck with a long tenon for stability and sustain, the fast and comfortable SlimTaper™ profile, and a bound rosewood fingerboard adorned with mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays. Vintage touches continue on the headstock, with an aged Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlays completing the period-correct look.

The two-piece, centre-seamed mahogany body features the distinctive bevels that define the SG silhouette, ensuring both visual authenticity and exceptional playing comfort. Under the hood, you’ll find a pair of USA Gibson Custombucker humbuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, hand-wired with CTS® pots, Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors, and premium Switchcraft® hardware for true vintage tone and reliability.
