EK-Quantum Velocity² IHS Removal Tool - 1700
EK-Quantum Velocity² IHS Removal Tool - 1700 is a delidding or IHS removal tool. It allows users to remove the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) from their CPUs and directly cool the CPU die. It is a safe, easy, quick, and ultimately practical way of removing the IHS. While the IHS and CPU Die look flat to the human eye, the surface is actually very uneven.
Benefits of IHS Removal
Although the CPU die and IHS appear flat, their surfaces contain microscopic imperfections. Thermal compound or solder is used between them to fill these gaps, but this still creates an additional thermal layer before heat reaches the cooler. The silicone adhesive securing the IHS can also introduce spacing, further reducing heat transfer efficiency.
Safe and Controlled Operation
This tool is engineered to reduce the risk of processor damage during delidding of 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Intel CPUs. Operation involves inserting the CPU into the tool, aligning the orientation triangle on the processor with the marker on the device, and tightening the integrated screw to separate the IHS in a controlled manner.
Construction and Development
Manufactured from black-anodized aluminum, the tool is developed in collaboration with Der8auer and produced under license. It is purpose-built for controlled mechanical IHS removal.

1) It is mandatory to follow the user manual step-by-step. Not doing so can result in fatal damage to your processor.
2) Delidding the CPU voids its Intel warranty!
3) Delidding entails a very risky modification of the CPU and may, even when adequately performed, result in damage to the unit.
