EK-Loop D5 G3 PWM Motor

The EK-Loop D5 G3 PWM Motor is a 12V DC standalone D5 pump motor designed for installation into compatible D5 pump tops, reservoirs, and pump-reservoir combo units. It serves as the driving force behind custom liquid cooling loops, circulating coolant through CPU and GPU blocks and radiators. Operating at 23W, it delivers up to 1500L/h flow rate with a maximum head pressure of 3.9 metres, making it suitable for complex or restrictive loop layouts. The maximum supported liquid temperature is 60°C.


PWM Speed Control with SATA Power

Speed regulation is handled through a 4-pin PWM fan connector, allowing control via motherboard headers or dedicated controllers across an approximate 20–100% duty cycle range. This enables reduced pump speed at idle and increased output under thermal load. Power is supplied directly from the PSU through a SATA connector, separating power delivery from PWM control. The G3 revision features black cables for a uniform internal appearance.


Spherical Motor Construction

The pump uses an electronically commutated spherical motor design, derived from the original Xylem D5 architecture. The only moving part is a magnetic spherical rotor supported by an ultra-hard ceramic bearing ball. This self-balancing layout minimises internal wear and maintains stable rotation over time. Components exposed to coolant are corrosion-resistant, supporting long-term use in closed liquid cooling systems.

Important Notes:


1) The D5 pump is water lubricated and it must not be run dry; otherwise, permanent bearing damage can occur.
