The ROOM mode provides a more familiar starting point, simulating different acoustic spaces with adjustable decay tone and pre-delay. DIGIT takes things in a more fractured direction, combining delay and reverb to create unusual resonances and cascading repeats. For something more pronounced, PEAK combines a resonant band-pass filter with ambient reverb, producing focused, vocal-like tones and sharp harmonic peaks that can cut through a dense mix.

GATE delivers everything from tight, punchy gated reverb to longer, sustained effects that approach a controllable freeze. WAVE introduces pitch modulation, allowing you to move between chorus-like movement, vibrato and long, wavering reverberant tails. At the more experimental end, GONG combines crushed digital textures with ring modulation for metallic, otherworldly tones that suit noise, drone and adventurous sound design.

Each algorithm has its own character, and the FREQ and DEPTH controls adapt to the selected mode rather than performing the same function throughout. TIME adjusts the reverb time across all six algorithms, while the independent DRY and FX controls let you balance the original signal against the effected sound. Both level controls offer a wide operating range, allowing the effect to sit subtly behind your playing or become a dominant part of the overall tone.

For greater control during a performance, the ALT footswitch gives you access to a second set of parameter settings. This lets you move between two configurations within the selected algorithm without having to stop and manually reset the controls. Connect a compatible TRS expression pedal or a 0–3.3V control-voltage source, and you can sweep either the frequency-related parameter or TIME while ALT mode is active, adding real-time movement to transitions and sustained textures.

Stereo inputs and outputs, alongside flexible routing options, make ROOMS suitable for a range of setups, from a straightforward mono pedalboard to stereo amplifier rigs and parallel processing chains. It can also be used with synthesizers and other electronic instruments, making it a useful creative tool beyond guitar. Housed in a rugged enclosure, it brings Death By Audio’s experimental approach to effects into a pedal with enough control to make those sounds practical on stage or in the studio.
