Stereo Reverb and Delay Effects Pedal
Death By Audio - Dream Station
A collaboration between Death By Audio and Rainger FXFrom shimmering ambient washes to bouncing stereo echoes and runaway feedback, the Death By Audio Dream Station combines reverb and delay in a compact pedal built for creating distinctive sonic spaces. Its combination of two essential ambience effects, three selectable filter characters and full stereo operation makes it equally useful for adding depth to everyday playing or building evolving textures that become part of the performance.
The Reverb Time control adjusts the length of the reverb, moving from subtle room-like ambience to long, expansive decays that can transform sustained notes and chords into lush pads. Turn the control down and the pedal can deliver delay without the added reverb wash; increase it for broader, more atmospheric sounds. Meanwhile, Echo Time sets the delay from 2ms to 500ms, covering everything from tight slapback and thickening effects to rhythmic repeats and more experimental textures.
Echo F-Back controls the number and intensity of the repeats. Keep it low for controlled echoes, or push it further to build dense layers of sound. At higher settings, the feedback can tip into self-oscillation, creating rising, swirling tones that are ideal for transitions, noise passages and hands-on experimentation.
A three-position filter switch gives both effects a choice of tonal character. Bright removes low frequencies for an airy, splashy response; Full preserves the complete frequency range for a clear digital-style sound; and Dark rolls off the highs for a warmer, more subdued character. These settings make it easy to fit the Dream Station into different rigs, whether you want crisp repeats that cut through a mix or darker ambience that sits behind the dry signal.
Stereo operation is central to the Dream Station’s appeal. With the appropriate TRS connections and internal input configuration, it can run in full stereo, spreading echoes between the outputs for a wider, more animated sound. It also works in mono or can take a mono input and deliver a stereo output, making it straightforward to integrate into a range of pedalboard setups. In stereo mode, the ping-pong delay moves between outputs at half the selected delay time.
The Mix control balances the dry signal against the effected sound, from a completely dry output to fully wet ambience. An internal Trails switch determines whether the reverb and delay continue to decay naturally after the pedal is bypassed, or stop immediately. These options make the Dream Station adaptable to both conventional live setups and more atmospheric arrangements where effects are allowed to ring out between phrases.
Part of Death By Audio’s Destroyer Series, the Dream Station packs its extensive ambience capabilities into a compact, rugged enclosure with a distinctive illuminated display. It runs from a standard 9V DC centre-negative supply and draws 95mA, keeping power requirements straightforward for most pedalboards.
For guitarists, synth players and experimental musicians looking for more than a conventional reverb or delay, the Dream Station offers a broad range of usable ambience alongside the feedback and tonal manipulation that make Death By Audio effects stand out.
