Death By Audio - Crossover Fuzz
Fuzz So Heavy, It Had to Be SplitBuilt around a more radical approach to fuzz, the Death By Audio Crossover Fuzz splits your signal into high and low frequency bands, then gives each one its own independent fuzz controls. The result is far more than a single wall of distortion: you can build huge, saturated low end while keeping the upper frequencies sharp and cutting, or push both bands into unruly, harmonically rich territory.
Separate Gain and Volume controls for the high and low bands make it possible to balance the two sides of your sound independently. The FREQ control sweeps a pair of linked analogue filters, shifting the crossover point to change how the frequency bands interact, while the RES control adds anything from focused resonance to screaming peaks and self-oscillation. Together, they make the Crossover Fuzz as much a creative sound-design tool as a source of outright fuzz.
Its flexible input and output routing opens up even more possibilities. Run it as a conventional mono pedal, build stereo textures, or send the high and low bands to separate amplifiers or effects chains. Pairing a bright guitar rig with a bass amp, for example, lets you keep the low end weighty while pushing the upper frequencies into a more aggressive, cutting sound.
For hands-on control, an expression pedal or 0–5V control-voltage source can sweep the crossover frequency in real time, creating moving filter effects and dramatic transitions. A reactive LED display gives you a visual indication of the crossover position, while the fully analogue signal path keeps the pedal rooted in Death By Audio’s characteristically raw, unruly approach to effects.
at a glance
• Independent High & Low Fuzz — Splits your signal into two frequency bands, each with its own gain and volume controls for precise control over the low-end weight and high-frequency bite.
• Resonant Crossover Filtering — Linked analogue filters and adjustable resonance take you from focused tonal shaping to aggressive sweeps and self-oscillating chaos.
• Flexible Mono & Stereo Routing — Dedicated high and low inputs and outputs support dual-amp setups, stereo rigs and separate frequency-based effects chains.
• Expression & CV Control — Connect an expression pedal or 0–5V control voltage source to sweep the crossover frequency in real time.
• All-Analogue Signal Path — Delivers raw, characterful fuzz with a reactive LED display that visually tracks the crossover position.
