Intel Branding Part I
Intel Branding Part I
Date Issued: 1st Jul 2009

Intel’s been on a mission of late. That mission revolves around grouping and standardising key technologies under various banners that are designed to ensure hardware compatibility and consumer ease of use. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Cooler Master Hyper 103 CPU Cooler 3 Heatpipe with quiet 92mm Fan for Intel / AMD is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fitted many times on Intel / AMD boards A great cooler for the money & compact enough for most tower cases. This cooler has been around for a few years & the fittings changed for newer AM4 boards. The tool less fitting requires the motherboard out of case to mount. TOP TIP to get mounting plate right way up for AMD/Intel - The green insulation is on the motherboard side. (Older models had AMD/Intel label stamped in the metal). It is a little fiddly to assemble BUT very solid, well made & effective cooler for all but 'bragging rights' massively overclocked monster case builds. It is my go to value cooler where a modest long CPU overclock is being used..... Has never let me down and comes with a full sized generous tube of paste. TOP TOOL BOX TIP - If your kids have Lego - steal an 8 block brick. It is perfect for a very thin spread of thermal paste.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not that great. Terrible instructions make this cooler one to avoid. The connection plate that is supposed to have Intel/AMD on either side of it simply doesn't. Spend a little more and get some better is my advice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cooler master 103 Bought this as a replacement for standard cooler. Had to remove motherboard to fit, but result after fitting a reduction in temperatures while system running. Solid construction and excellent performance. Would use this cooler on further builds

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and very effective Built my i5-8600K system this morning hoping this would do the job and it does. Running Seti for 20 minutes on all six cores and it stuck between 74 and 75 degrees C at the most.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good little cooler This is a great little cpu cooler for the price. While I doubt it would be a good choice for overclocking, it is both much cooler and much quieter that the awful stock fans that come with most CPUs. Installation takes a little bit of time, but as long as you read the instructions carefully you shouldn't have any problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Successfully cooled my old AMD 955 My old 955 based PC was getting far to warm, made noticeable via the stock cooling that came with the chip revving up near constantly when it was in use by the kids for mundane tasks such as homework or War Thunder (5770 was used as well). After reseating and reapplying the thermal paste it was still in the 55-60c range when crunching numbers so I gave in and bought a larger case (Enermax ECA3250-BW Ostrog) some new t.paste and this heatsink & fan. Worked a treat. Although smaller than my 212 it has brought the CPU temp down to 25-30c at any given time ergo the PC is now rather silent. I'd recommend this if you want a good heatsink & fan for less than £20.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent cooler that works perfectly This cooler is a fantastic value for money, I originally bought this to have a spare for when i get a new one, but now I have used this as my main cooler it is that good, the hottest my CPU has got is about 39.c I think, I am remarkably impressed with this product and I would definitely recommend this!

Does this fit socket 1151 as the instructionson how to install do not say 1151 on them, but there is a sticker on the outside that says it does?

Asked by: NapperArchitects
Just had a look and my box has the 1151 sticker on so I guess the answer is yes. The sockets themselves look the same to me, my previous system was 1151.

WIll this fit on Z77 Sabretooth S1155 Board

Hi Currently I am using stock cooler, with the annoying four pins to insert into holes and rotate to fasten, I dont see these on this so how does it attach? Thanks for your help - Stock cooler dying and need better replacement - alternatively any recommendations would be great
Asked by: Grizler
The picture on this site show just the cooler itself - not the brackets and mounts. The cooler comes with the brackets needed to mount it to your motherboard & CPU. There are also some Ikea style instructions supplied that show which brackets and holes are used depending on your CPU and motherboard. Just take your time and don't forget to re-apply the thermal paste (I think it comes with some but can't remember as I have a couple of tubes kicking around anyway). So to answer your original question: it comes with all the bits necessary to install it and replace your stock fan. To note though, if your temps are getting high then maybe all you need to do is clean the stock cooler and re-apply the thermal paste?

Will this fit on an AMD Athlon X4 860K?

I am looking at getting a new CPU cooler and this fits exactly what I am looking for, however it states it fits on FM2 CPUs but my CPU (Athlon X4 860K) is FM2+. I wondered if the + would make a difference? If this will not work with my CPU, what would people recommend for a FM2+ CPU?
Asked by: Doddy321
Hello, Yes this will fit on the FM2+ CPU socket. Thanks,
