40 Watt Guitar Amplifier

Four Power Stages With Unlimited ExpressionJoining together classic tube sound and feel with modern tonal diversity, the BOSS Nextone series presents exciting new ideas in professional guitar amplification. Iconic channel voicings provide a wide range of inspiring tones, while four selectable Class AB analog power amp types deliver instant access to the unique characteristics of 6V6, 6L6, EL84, and EL34 output tube sections. Supported by advanced Tube Logic technology, each power amp type re-voices the entire circuit from input to output and for the first time ever, putting the complete sonic experience of these signature power stages all in one amp.
For diving deeper with further sound customization, just connect to the Nextone Editor and become a virtual tech, fine-tuning bias, sag, EQ, and other internal settings to perfectly suit your unique style and touch. Nextone also comes with modern features to make live playing easier, such as built-in effects, a line out for mic-free direct tone, and a power control for expressive cranked-amp sound at lower volumes. Thanks to Tube Logic, you can enjoy all the great sound and response of your favorite tube designs without the continuous maintenance and hassle.
Version 2 firmware gives you a range of new tone personalization options using the Nextone Editor. A key feature is Character Shape, which gives you designer-level sound control right at the heart of the power amplifier. Along with this, separate pre/post preamp EQs are now available (including a new 10-band graphic), seven boost types have been added, and effects can be set individually for custom mode channels. There’s also a selectable Extra Headroom setting for extra punch. With new import/export and librarian functions, working with your different Nextone setups is easier than ever.

Next-Generation Guitar Amplification

Reliable PowerEach driver features its own dedicated amplifier. The 50W A/B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, whilst the midwoofer is being powered by a 100W PWM amp.
The front panel has a power switch and a control for the volume that maintains the volume setting separately from the on/off switch. On the back panel you’ll find additional controls: gain for the high frequencies (± 4dB) and two shelf filters for high and low frequencies.
Instant Power Amp Re-Voicing

Access To Multiple Tonal CharacteristicsIn a tube-based guitar amplifier, the preamp is crucial for basic tone shaping, although it’s the power amp design that really defines the overall unique sound and playing feel. Most amps use a specific output tube type, while the ability to swap out different power tubes is uncommon. Unfortunately, this process usually requires physical tube replacement and bench time with a tech, making it expensive and time consuming. In most cases, you need to buy multiple amps to access the unique tonal characteristics of different output tube sections… until now.
Nextone changes this with the ability to instantly re-voice its analog Class AB power amp section with one of the four classic designs. American sounds are found with 6V6 and 6L6 output tube types, while British sounds are made with EL84 and EL34 types. Unlike modeling amps, which just feed pre-cooked amp models through a non-reactive amplifier, selecting a power amp type on the Nextone physically changes the complete output circuitry, as well as the way the preamp and speaker interacts with it. This makes the entire amp perform honest tones at each setting, providing realism that’s only possible with advanced Tube Logic technology.
Cranked Sound at Lower Volumes

Constant CharacteristicsWith any tube amp, you really need to push its output tubes to get the best possible tone. Unfortunately, this means turning up the volume, which is often frowned upon by sound engineers, bandmates, and neighbors.
Driven by Tube Logic, Nextone delivers the complex distortion characteristics of output tubes and their interaction with the output transformer and speaker, delivering that rich, dynamically responsive sound we know and love.
With Nextone’s adjustable power control, you can always experience this cranked-amp tone while matching the volume to any situation, be it home, studio, or stage.
Customize Tones for Your Style & Touch

Be Your Own Amp TechNextone features a dual-channel design with clean and lead channels plus a shared three-band tone stack and presence control. Boost and Tone switches are on hand too, allowing you to add some extra gain and bite as you wish. With the press of a button, you can switch the amp into custom mode, which offers factory-tweaked variations of the standard clean and lead channels. The custom mode channels can also be fine-tuned to your liking with the Nextone Editor software.
Using a friendly interface, the Nextone Editor gives you further editing tools to refine the sound to perfectly suit your personal taste and favorite pedals. Set a channel’s tone stack to American or British types, shape the overall tone with a powerful channel EQ, and even shape the playing response by adjusting bias, sag, and more. The Tone switch can be set to two different types, and the Boost switch can be set for different characters or even be assigned as a compressor. A system-wide EQ is also available, allowing you to define the tonal balance of the entire amp. And with 99 different user setups available, you’re able to customize Nextone’s sound for every gig setting you come across.
Onboard Effects & Switchable Effects Loop

More Versatility & ConvenienceFeaturing built-in delay, reverb, and tremolo effects, Nextone brings extra versatility and convenience to live playing guitarists. Using the Nextone Editor, the delay section in custom mode can be assigned freely to analog, tape, or SDE-3000 delay types or a tremolo effect, while the reverb can be assigned to plate, spring, or hall types.
Each effect type offers a deep set of parameters for dialing in you ideal tone. The amp also comes with a loop for integrating your own effects, with series/parallel operation, loop position, and more selectable using the Nextone Editor.
Practical Features for Performance & Recording

Additional Tonal OptionsWith just a single cable, connecting the optional GA-FC foot controller gives you a command center for channel selection, Tone, Boost, effects, pedal volume, and more. For even lighter travel, up to three FS-series footswitches can be used to control multiple functions. There’s also a line out for sending a direct signal to a PA, plus a phones/recording output for silent practice and tracking sessions. Using the Nextone Editor, the characteristics of the direct sound can be changed to one of three Air Feel settings for a range of mic’d cab tones.
External speaker jacks are included too, with support for connecting up to two 16-ohm 4x12 cabs for even bigger tones. As well as providing communication with the Nextone Editor, the amp’s USB jack works as a direct recording interface for your favorite DAW software. Multiple channels are supported, meaning you can record both a cab-emulated output and a dry direct tone for re-amping later through the Nextone.
