Live broadcasters can finally achieve the same stunning cinematic quality once exclusive to the film industry. No other broadcast camera can match the dynamic range, frame rates, and colour science of the Blackmagic URSA Cine. Because it handles both film and live production, you can keep the camera busy with whatever kind of work you want.

Perfect for Feature Film and Post ProductionWhen set to record, the camera captures Blackmagic RAW to the media module. That's perfect for film shoots, as you retain the sensor's full dynamic range, so colour grading can bring out the richness of every scene. Plus, real-time proxies can be recorded and synced to an off-site post-production team. You can also connect a DaVinci workstation to the camera's 10G Ethernet for on-set grading.

Add Cinematic Quality to Live ProductionWhen the camera is set to SMPTE-2110 Live in the menu, it instantly transforms into a live studio camera! You get real-time SMPTE-2110 IP video from the 10G Ethernet connector, supporting up to 2160p60 with cinematic quality and 16 stops of dynamic range. That’s well beyond traditional broadcast cameras. Plus, the 100G model outputs live video up to 440 fps for amazing slow-motion sports replays.

Cinematic Large Format Sensor

Revolutionary New SensorFeaturing a revolutionary new sensor, Blackmagic URSA Cine delivers incredible image quality at all resolutions from 4K to a massive 17K. Building on the original 12K RGBW Super 35 sensor, the new large-format design features larger photo-sites, delivering an astounding 16 stops of dynamic range! The unique RGBW architecture provides equal amounts of red, green and blue pixels for incredible colour super sampling, optimised to deliver rich colours at all resolutions and provide the ultimate in image quality and flexibility. Now you can capture more detail with a wider dynamic range than ever before! Plus, in-sensor scaling means you can record at all resolutions without any cropping.

A Camera Body Optimised for High End Productions

The large-format sensors provide the ultimate in flexibility for aspect ratios, lenses and delivery formats! The full sensor area of the 12K LF gives you a stunning 3:2 open gate image, while the 17K 65 model provides a cinematic 2.20:1 image. Both models let you use the large sensor area to shoot anamorphic and deliver in a range of aspect ratios with 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.66, 1.8 and 2x de-squeeze factors. Plus, you can shoot in 4K, 8K or 12K using the entire sensor without cropping, retaining the full field of view of your lenses. The 12K LF model even has 9K Super 35 modes for full compatibility with classic cinema lenses. All this lets you create distinctive content in the highest quality.

Interchangeable Lens Mounts

blackmagic ursa cine lens mounts

Quickly Switch Between LensesDifferent projects require different lenses, which is why URSA Cine features an interchangeable lens mount. You can quickly switch between PL, LPL, EF and even broadcast B4 mounts! That means you can work with PL or LPL cinema lenses, or EF photographic lenses, making URSA Cine compatible with the widest range of professional lenses. Imagine using modern high-speed lenses for sharp, precise images on one shoot, then vintage photographic lenses for a period drama! Plus, each mount has contact pins to read lens metadata for monitoring and post-production. With Blackmagic URSA Cine, you have the freedom to choose the perfect lens for any kind of work.

Built in Monitoring and Assist Station

Multiple Monitoring OptionsWith multiple monitoring options, Blackmagic URSA Cine lets crews work faster on set! The fold-out monitor has a large 5″ HDR touchscreen on one side and an external colour status LCD on the other. You can even rotate the screen and fold it back into the camera! On the right side, there's a dedicated assist station with a second 5″ HDR touchscreen, allowing the crew to work around the camera without needing external monitors. Plus, with a 1,500 nit display and removable sunshade, it's always visible even in bright sunlight. On-screen overlays show status and record parameters, histogram, frame guides and more. There's even a dedicated focus puller's mode to help you get perfect focus.

Rugged Industry Standard Connections

breakdown of the blackmagic ursa cine ports

Industry-StandardThe wide range of industry-standard connections on URSA Cine makes it perfect for high-end cinema production. The 7-pin LEMO and 3-pin Fischer connectors at the front provide record start/stop and 24V power, so they are ideal for on-board accessories such as focus motors. Camera power is provided by a standard 24V 8-pin LEMO connection, plus there's an additional 2-pin LEMO 12V connection at the rear for lower-voltage accessories. All this means you can power accessories straight from the camera without messy external cabling! There are also two independent 12G-SDI outputs for monitoring on two different monitors, even with different overlays, plus 10G Ethernet for Blackmagic Cloud media syncing.

Get the Quality of Blackmagic RAW Recording

blackmagic ursa cine fold out monitor and settings for recording blackmagic RAW

Blackmagic RAWBlackmagic RAW is a revolutionary codec designed to capture and preserve the full quality of the sensor data from your camera. Files store camera metadata, lens data, white balance, digital slate information and custom LUTs to ensure complete image consistency on set and throughout post-production. Constant quality options lock the quality level, allowing compression to adapt and match the detail of the scene. Constant bitrate encoding options are designed to give you the best possible images with predictable and consistent file sizes. When Blackmagic URSA Cine records to the Blackmagic Media Module 8TB, you can get over 4 hours of Blackmagic RAW in 12K or a massive 20 hours in 4K.

Generation 6 Colour Science

a man wearing a cowboy-style hat and jacket

Generation 6 Colour Science logoBlackmagic Generation 6 Colour Science features numerous imaging improvements for the advanced URSA Cine sensor, with extremely accurate colour reproduction for natural and pleasing skin tones. The processing pipeline has been redesigned using 3D LUTs for film, extended video and video gamuts, so you can customise output by loading your own LUTs. The LUTs are applied after the colour corrector, so corrections are on top of the full film gamut. You can output different colour spaces using preloaded LUTs, including Rec. 709, 2020 and PQ, plus you can even customise the gamut compression! URSA Cine now has two 3D LUT processors for different outputs and an extra 3D LUT just for the SMPTE-2110 output.

Includes Built in Optical Low Pass Filter

a woman being filmed on a film set using the blackmagic ursa cine

Optical Low Pass FilterThe high frequencies of synthetic materials like fabrics or the LED matrix in video walls can cause problems for ultra-sharp modern lenses and high-resolution sensors, creating unwanted interference patterns. Using an optical low-pass filter minimises that interference, resulting in a significant reduction of moiré and aliasing. Blackmagic URSA Cine includes a high-performance optical low-pass filter that is precisely matched to the sensor. The OLPF also incorporates updated IR filtering that improves far red colour response, which, when combined with the advanced Blackmagic RAW processing for the URSA Cine, preserves colour and critical image detail for entirely new levels of image fidelity.

Built in Colour Balanced ND Filters

sample image of a woman in a car demonstrating the effect of the ND camera filter

Built in ND FiltersThe 12K and Immersive models feature built-in ND filters that let you quickly reduce the amount of light entering the camera. Precision designed to match the colourimetry and colour science of the camera, the 2, 4 and 6 stop filters provide additional latitude even under harsh lighting. The IR filters have been designed to filter both visible and IR wavelengths evenly, eliminating the IR contamination that many ND filters suffer from. Blackmagic URSA Cine ND filters are true optical filters with a precision mechanism that quickly moves them into place when the ND filters are selected. Filter settings can even be displayed as an ND number, stop reduction or fraction on the LCD.

Work at Higher Frame Rates

Multiple Cameras in OneWith the ability to shoot in 4K, 8K, Super 35 9K and even incredibly detailed 17K, Blackmagic URSA Cine is multiple cameras in one! You can shoot 100 fps in 12K 12,288 x 6,480 17:9 or 120 fps in 12K 2.4:1 widescreen. For higher frame rates, you can capture 144 fps at 8,192 x 5,360, 180 fps at 8,192 x 3,408 and even 8K 2.4:1 widescreen at an incredible 224 fps at 8,192 x 3,408! Only Blackmagic URSA Cine has such flexible frame rate and resolution options, with incredible motion rendering and smoother edges in 8K and 4K, even at lower frame rates. Plus, you can achieve even higher frame rates on the 100G Ethernet model when using a B4 lens mount and outputting SMPTE-2110 live video.

High Performance Internal Media for Recording
