Scan Pro Audio Recommeneded - The DT990 is more akin to critical listening than mix work, with a little more emphasis on upper mid range clarity than the analytical DT880, it's a little more "enjoyable" of a listen too, but is a great choice if you do a mixture of home listening and production. This is a 600 Ohm Headphone, you will need a proper amp to get the best (and a half decent volume) out of it, Such as the Creative E5 DAC or the Nuforce HA200 amplifier.
The DT 990 is an open dynamic headphone of exceptional quality and suitable for all music styles; whether you are into pop, classical or jazz, the DT 990’s will deliver the true sound as it was originally intended to. The reduced weight of the diaphragm and moving coil result in a similar pulse characteristic as electrostatic headphones, and in combination with a carefully tailored frequency response provide a natural and balanced sound. Soft ear and headband pads together with a single-sided cable ensure listening comfort during extended periods of use.
Premium Open HiFi Headphones
The new sophisticated DT 990 is a headphone for enthusiasts and will satisfy you with a perfect sound and comfort. The use of high-quality material and the distinctive design underline the standard of a high end model. The headphone is still handcrafted in Germany warranting a high quality.

Without exception, beyerdynamic manufactures the dynamic transducer systems that go into their headphones in-house. From the magnet and diaphragm to the careful wiring and circuitry, beyerdynamic controls quality at all levels of manufacturing, ensuring superior engineering in their headphones down to the smallest detail.
