Akasa shows with aluminum housing a very noble implementation of this basic idea. This is an external drive enclosure for the compact M.2 SATA SSDs, made of aluminum. Due to the compact shape and the low total weight combined with high stability, the housing is ideally equipped for mobile use.Internally, the housing accommodates SSDs with the form factors 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280, that is, 30, 42, 60, or 80 millimeters in length. For data transmission, the SATA III protocol is used. The M.2-SSD enclosure is connected with an included USB 3.0 Micro-B cable and a supplied USB cable for power supply. Backwards compatibility allows for use with USB 2.0, but it offers only the reduced bandwidth of this port.

The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

Solid-state drives (SSDs) are fast becoming the must-have PC components of 2010. Serving as primary storage space for high-end computers, SSD's super-fast transfer rates and near-instant accesses offer genuine advantages over traditional spindle-based magnetic drives.

A motherboard’s main job is to act as a conduit between the various hardware elements that make up a PC. It needs to be able to link the desired CPU(s), system memory, graphics card, hard drive(s), and add-in cards and enable them to work in harmony.
